OCBC Bank Malaysia Bhd is augmenting its presence in north Selangor with the opening of its 33 rd branch in the country, in the affluent and vibrant township of Anggun City, Rawang.

The Rawang branch, which recently opened for business, is only the second OCBC Bank branch in the northern part of Selangor, after Ijok. It comes complete with a Premier Banking Centre and over 1,000 safe deposit boxes, a service that remains a rarity in Rawang.

Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd, the largest Aluminium smelter in Southeast Asia started its financial year 2018 with firm first quarter results amidst fluctuation in raw material costs and weakening U.S. Dollar.

Revenue for the quarter closed at RM2.125 billion, a 9.9 per cent increase from Q1FY17 due to higher aluminium prices.

Epson continues to gain market traction and achieve leadership position in its ink tank printers and projectors segments in Malaysia, driven by the company’s focus on developing its core technologies in four key pillars of innovation – inkjet, visual communications, wearables and robotics – to drive growth. 

Epson Malaysia recorded consistent growth over the recent years with FY2017 following suit with a double digit 18% growth over FY2016, which saw the printer division contributing 57%, and 31% from visual products. Big market winners for the company this year with strong growth include entry level ink tank system printers, projectors and professional printers.

GST To Be Zero-Rated Starting June 1

The Finance Ministry announced that starting from June 1, 2018, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be zero-rated for all goods and services in Malaysia until further notice.

In a statement today, the ministry said the move does not include the goods and services listed in the Goods and Services Tax (Exempt Supply) Order 2014, which will remain exempted from GST.

KLCI closes on firmer note on Wednesday

Bursa Malaysia closed on a firmer note on Wednesday with fund buying seen in Public Bank, Maxis and CIMB as investors grew more confident in the new administration's policies.

At 5pm, the FBM KLCI was up 10.06 points or 0.54% to 1,858.26. Turnover was three billion shares valued at RM2.91 billion. The broader market was mixed with 492 gainers, 486 losers and 368 counters unchanged.
