Priceworth International Bhd says Forest Management Unit 5 (FMU5) has been valued at RM433.8 million, significantly more than the RM260 million price it is paying for its proposed acquisition of the FMU 5 Timber Concession comprising a net concession area of 88,920 hectares.

The timber and sustainable forestry group also holds a cash option that could further reduce the acquisition price to RM235 million if exercised, it said today in a circular to shareholders.

PCG Recorded Top Performance For 2017

PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG) held its annual general meeting (AGM) today to present the company’s performance to its shareholders for the financial year ended 31 December 2017.

Describing the overall performance of the Group, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of PCG, Datuk Sazali Hamzah said, “PCG recorded its best ever performance in terms of revenue, profit after tax and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) since its listing in 2010.”

Singapore High Speed Rail (‘KL-SG HSR’) is expected to generate more than 70,000 jobs to deliver the civil works packages, thus creating opportunities for professionals, skilled workers, and students from all over the country to work along the corridor of the 335KM alignment within Malaysia. 

In addition, more than 60 civil work packages will result in over 5,000 sub-contract packages opened to local firms which will stimulate the growth of local industries. More than 40% in values of the civil work packages will be allocated to Bumiputera companies.

Loob Holding Sdn Bhd, the creator of Malaysia’s Tealive bubble tea brand has announced its collaboration with World Iconic Brands Hospitality Pvt Ltd (WIB). WIB is a specialist franchise development company in India, which has secured master franchisee rights to open 140 stores in three cities in India within next five years. The Tealive outlets will come up in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

CEO of Loob Holding, Bryan Loo signed an agreement of Master Franchise Rights given to WIB to expand Tealive in the Metro cities of India, like Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore. At the event, WIB was represented by its founder Mr. Gaurav Marya, who is also the chairman of Franchise India, which is Asia’s largest integrated franchise solutions company. Franchise India owns majority stakes in WIB.

BMW Group Malaysia and Sime Darby Motors through its division Sime Darby Auto Engineering (SDAE), has opened the doors to the new SDAE Engine Assembly Facility in Kulim, Kedah. 

Established on a land site of over 6 acres with a built-up area space of 8,500 square metres and with a total investment value of over RM 132 million by SDAE.

Tetra Pak aims to launch a paper straw that is suitable for its portion-sized carton packages before the end of the year, as part of a broader programme to help address the issue of plastic straw waste.

Straws play an integral functional role on portion packages, but if not properly disposed of, they then become part of the plastics waste problem. The company has been working to encourage consumers to push straws “back in the pack” once empty, so they can be collected along with the rest of the package. Now, work is under way to develop a paper straw that is suitable for use on its portion-size carton packages.
