MICPA Celebrates 60 Years

The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) celebrated its 60th Anniversary on July 13, 2018 at the MICPA 60th Annual Dinner held at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur hotel.

Over 400 guests attended the festive night including the President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Ms Rachel Grimes, who flew in from Sydney, Australia, to officiate the event with an opening speech.

A burger that taste like no other, McDonald’s introduced the Mexicana Chicken Burger, an exotic and tantalising tastes of Latin America as part of McDonald’s annual Discover the World campaign.
The first menu item of the campaign was introduced earlier last month, a Brazilian-inspired Rio Burger.

This new burger is expected to give Malaysia that extra Latino Kick with their extra-large crispy chicken patty generously drizzled with special tomato mayo and tangy jalapeno sauce for a tinge of spiciness.
The Mexican Chicken Burger is also topped with white cheddar cheese and fresh vegetables, such as red capsicum, lettuce, and tomatoes, all sandwiched between a glazed bun.

Azmin: NEP to Be Reviewed

The New Economic Policy (NEP) will be reviewed by the Government to ensure that it fulfils the needs of the people and the direction of socio-economic development of Malaysia, says Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The review of the NEP, an affirmative action policy that was crafted in the aftermath of the May 13 riots in 1969, would be carried out in line with the aspirations of a New Malaysia in ensuring sustainable economic growth and a fair distribution.

Sime Darby Property Bhd has appointed former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz as its new non-independent and non-executive chairman, effective immediately.

She takes over from Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar who had retired from the position at the end of June.

Founder and group chief executive chairman of Rembawang Holdings Sdn Bhd, Datuk Kamisah Johan was recently acknowledged for her continuous commitment and contributions to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by receiving the award for the SME/Personality category at the CSR Malaysia Awards 2018.

“The award is given in appreciation of Datuk Kamisah’s long-standing commitment and active involvement in corporate social responsibility, supporting numerous worthy causes, from animal welfare to reducing food shortage and providing poverty-ridden families with educational, medical, and meal assistance, among others,” said CSR Malaysia’s chairman Datuk R. The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) has launched a CFO Competency Framework for Public Interest Entities that sets forth five key principles guiding the roles and expectations of a CFO and the six roles that represent the full breadth of the CFO’s remit.

“The CFO Competency Framework also seeks to enlighten those charged with governance (TCWG) and C-suite executives that a competent finance function led by a competent CFO can improve corporate governance and hence, strengthen reputation, public confidence and trust,” said MIA chief executive officer, Dr. Nurmazilah Datuk Mahzan.

Two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were signed between the subsidiaries of PUC Bhd and Axiata Digital Services Sdn Bhd.

The first MoU signing was between PUC’s subsidiaries RedHot Media Sdn Bhd (RHM) and Axiata Digital Advertising Sdn Bhd (ada), in which RHM will be ada’s agency to handle traditional media buying and planning services.
