CIMB Foundation yesterday set the tone on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) leadership by announcing fresh policies to further institutionalise the spirit of corporate citizenship in CIMB Group’s staff, during the unveiling of the Foundation’s refreshed brand and tagline, in commemoration of the Foundation’s tenth anniversary.
The new policy, called Flex4CSR, allows any of CIMB Group’s staff to take up to a whole month’s paid leave to support any of the Foundation’s projects with no impact to their existing tenure and benefits. Apart from that, employees are also entitled to a half-day leave for every 10 hours spent volunteering.
These two fresh policies are in addition to the Foundation’s existing employee-driven CSR initiative called Community Link, which encourages staff from our branches to bid for funding for CSR projects in their respective communities.
Datuk Hamidah Naziadin, CEO of CIMB Foundation commented, “For CIMB Foundation, the past 10 years have been more than about being a corporate with a heart. In the bigger scheme of things, the Foundation, and indeed every corporate, has a moral obligation to set the tone on CSR leadership to truly create value, and a sustainable, ripple effect in the communities that we operate. Flex4CSR, together with CIMB’s other CSR-related policies reflect our effort to further institutionalise the spirit of giving back to society and to truly bring to life the notion of corporate citizenship.”
The unveiling of the Foundation’s refreshed logo and tagline, “Empowering Communities, Changing Lives” was graced by CIMB Foundation’s Trustees and Hamidah. Also present were CIMB staff and 28 of the Foundation-supported athletes who were celebrated for winning 6 gold medals in Squash, 1 silver medal in Wheelchair Basketball, and 1 bronze medal in Blind Football in the recent 2017 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games.
Hamidah continued, “So much has been achieved in the past 10 years and we certainly want to do more to empower communities in ASEAN and impact lives regardless of race, creed, age, gender and physical ability. CIMB Foundation’s top priority is to continue helping individuals and communities alike through capacity building so that they are able to fulfil their potential, and to give them a sense of purpose so that they can contribute to nation-building in their own unique way.”
Established in November 2007, CIMB Foundation has been guided by its charter to create sustainable, long-term impact based on three pillars i.e., Community Development (which includes the staff-driven Community Link programme), Education and Sport. Since inception, the Foundation has disbursed over RM100 million through 962 initiatives benefitting 700,000 lives throughout ASEAN. From 1 January 2018, Community Link will also be extended to CIMB’s other major markets.
CIMB Foundation is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a three-day event from 10-12 Nov at The Curve in Mutiara Damansara. It will feature fun, exciting activities and is supported by its beneficiaries, who will showcase their unique skills and talents.
The public is welcomed to join the celebration, to get to know the beneficiaries and even enjoy up-close and-personal sessions with Datuk Nicol David, CIMB’s brand ambassador, and other top Malaysian athletes, para athletes and celebrities.
