InvestKL recently won one of the “Top Investment Promotion Agencies (IPA) Asia-Pacific Regional” by Site Selection for 2017 for having a reputation as a vital resource and a trusted partner for investors.
InvestKL was also being recognised as the most professionally responsive to inquiries, having the best reputation for protecting investor confidentiality and aftercare services. The recognition marks the second award received from Site Selection, the first in 2015.
A delighted Datuk Zainal Amanshah, Chief Executive Officer, InvestKL said, “We are honoured to receive our second IPA Award and very much appreciate the recognition by the Site Selection consultants from around the world.”
“This accolade not only recognises InvestKL’s good track record over the years and our steadfast commitment, it is also a trademark of the collective efforts of our key government stakeholders, Ministries and Kuala Lumpur City Hall, to attract investments to Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia,” he said.
InvestKL has successfully attracted 64 Multinational Companies (MNCs) with approved and committed investments of RM8.9 billion, as well as the creation of more than 9,300 regional high-skilled jobs since 2011. The agency is on track to achieving the 2020 target to attract 100 MNCs to set up regional establishments in Greater KL.
Commenting on the selection criteria for top IPAs this year, Denis Merkwirth, Vice President, Conway Advisory explains that the best IPAs “make potential investors feel like ‘preferred clients’. It goes way beyond simply providing data. The best IPAs effectively communicate their locations’ strengths and ability to adapt to the unique needs of expanding companies”.
The win was on the back of Malaysia being named the top five best countries in Asia for foreign investments by Forbes this year.
Malaysia is one of the top recipients of foreign direct investment, reflected by an outsized 64% increase in foreign capital last year compared to 2015.
