Kuala Lumpur, May 9 - Islamic finance can play a greater role in infrastructure financing via Public Private Partnerships (PPP) to facilitate more sustainable developments, said Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and World Bank Group at a joint conference held at the SC’s headquarters at Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Themed “Islamic Finance and Public-Private Partnerships for Infrastructure Development”, the SC-World Bank Group Conference brought together development practitioners, policy makers, regulators, as well as stakeholders involved in Islamic finance and infrastructure to discuss policy, regulatory and institutional interventions that can offer solutions for global infrastructure development needs.
Johor Bahru/Singapore, May 9 – Astaka Holdings Limited, which is building Johor Bahru’s upcoming administrative and commercial centre, One Bukit Senyum, has awarded a contract to JBB Kimlun Sdn Bhd to construct the new Grade A office tower of 15-storey headquarters for Johor Bahru City Council (Menara MBJB).
JBB Kimlun – a 60:40 joint venture between JBB Builders (M) Sdn Bhd (JBB Builders) and Kimlun Sdn Bhd (Kimlun”) – will begin construction of Menara MBJB in May 2017.
Cyberjaya, May 9 – Cyberview Sdn Bhd and Atilze Digital Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Yen Global Berhad, have announced Cyberjaya as the first smart city in Southeast Asia to utilise a city-wide LoRa network to connect various Internet of Things (IoT) sensors.
LoRa is a ready and available low power, long range (LoRa) wide area network technology which is designed to meet the demands of today's Internet of Things (IoT) applications and services.
