Kumpulan Medic Iman Sdn. Bhd. (“KMI Healthcare”), through its subsidiary KMI Kuantan Medical Centre (“KMI Kuantan”), organized its zakat giving ceremony to Pusat Kutipan Zakat Pahang (“PKZ Pahang”). The symbolic cheque presentation was witnessed by Dr. Rayney Azmi bin Ali, Chief Executive Officer of KMI Healthcare; and Encik Muhamamd Ghazali Zainal Yusof, General Manager of KMI Kuantan together with its Board of Directors. YB Dato’ Haji Satiful Bahari bin Mamat, Chairman of KMI Kuantan, represented the organization by handing over the cheque to Tuan Hj. Che Samsol Bin Ibrahim, Deputy General Manager of PKZ Pahang.
KMI Kuantan presented an approximate total of RM 800,000 in zakat contribution to PKZ Pahang and Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Melayu Terengganu (“MAIDAM”) for the fiscal year 2023. These funds are earmarked to support various charitable initiatives and programs under the purview of PKZ Pahang and MAIDAM particularly in uplifting underserved communities and enhancing the well-being of the local community. This program further strengthens KMI Healthcare’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its dedication to serving the community.
Speaking at the event, YB Dato’ Haji Satiful highlighted the importance of zakat as not only a pillar of Islam but also a means to foster social harmony and emphasized KMI Healthcare’s role in ensuring that these funds reach those who need them the most.
The ceremony is also in conjunction of KMI Kuantan 10 years anniversary as a purpose-built hospital in Indera Mahkota and has become the leading multi-disciplinary community specialist hospital in Kuantan. The hospital has demonstrated consistent success since 1997, evidenced by the growth in revenue driven by an increase in inpatient numbers, high bed occupancy rates, and a rise in average revenue per inpatient. Recently, KMI Kuantan was honored as one of the Best Performing Company and Most Promising Company in Terengganu Inc. Corporate Directors Programme last September.
With a strength of 30 permanent consultants consisting of various medical disciplines as well as 10 visiting consultants, KMI Kuantan is now becoming more aggressive to further develop its capabilities in providing more extensive health services to patients.
As the number of patients continues to rise each year, KMI Kuantan will begin offering oncology treatment services for cancer patients starting in January 2025. Chemotherapy will be available as one of the initial treatments, with radiotherapy and nuclear medicine treatments to follow.
In addition, starting from the middle of next year, KMI Kuantan will expand its facilities with the construction of a new building to support the operations of the existing premises. The project will include 80 additional private rooms, 30 new clinics, and three specialized centers of medical excellence focused on heart, eye, and bone care. The new building is expected to be completed by 2028 and will become a prominent landmark in Kuantan.
