Leading Norwegian paint company, Jotun Paints (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd today inaugurated a new Powder Coating factory in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.
The major paint manufacturer represented in over 100 countries made an investment worth RM60mil in this new facility, demonstrating its confidence in the local economy while further anchoring its presence in Malaysia.
The new state-of-the-art Powder Coating factory will increase by more than double in production capacity and contribute to the company’s bullish ambition to increase market share.
Over a period of 30 years in Malaysia, Jotun Paints has continuously invested in people, manufacturing capacity and product development to meet the ever-growing needs of environment-friendly and high quality powder solutions.
The new state-of-the-art facility is in compliance to the highest health, safety and environmental standards and in line with Jotun’s ambition of building factories with more energy saving features by the usage of natural daylight and energy efficient inverter driven motors which significantly reduce the energy consumption of the plant.
Speaking at the launch of this new facility, Odd Gleditsch, Chairman of Jotun Board of Directors, “Today we embark on a new chapter and a huge step to an even brighter future with the opening of our state-of-the-art powder coating factory in Nilai. Malaysia has been instrumental in being a stepping stone for Jotun to grow our business in the region. The success of Malaysia has spurred us to make a strategic move to vigorously expand our presence further in SEA. November marks as an eventful month for us at Jotun, with factories opening in Myanmar, Philippines and Malaysia all within a span of a week.”
The Norwegian paint maker has two factories in Malaysia - a waterborne factory in Shah Alam and a solvent based factory in Nilai. The new Powder Coating factory that boasts over 4,800 sq meter. is positioned within the existing Jotun Nilai facility. Aimed to double in production capacity, the new powder coating facility will manufacture up to 6,000 metric tonnes per annum and is capable of further expansion to over 20,000 metric tonnes per annum.
