Loob Holding Sdn Bhd, the company behind popular F&B brands including Tealive, llaollao, Gindaco and Define Food has been awarded ‘Asia’s Best Employer Brand 2018 - 2019’. The ceremony took place on 31 July at Le Meridien Sentosa, Singapore.
Currently in its ninth edition, the Asia Best Employer Brand Award recognises organisations from Asia who are exemplary in practices related to Human Resources (H.R.).
Winners are generally evaluated on how the Employer and the H.R. Leadership have performed on the following broad areas: ‘Contribution to Industry/National Needs’, ‘Contribution to Business Needs’, ‘Contribution to Employee Needs’, and, last but not least, ‘Personal Attributes and Professional Development’.
“We are so incredibly honoured and proud that LOOB has been conferred ‘Asia’s Best Employer Brand 2018 - 2019’ in our category! We give full credit back to our team – ‘Loobies’ and all stakeholders for their dedication and hard work. You all made this possible for us! We hope with this award, we can continue to build a better workplace to drive our organisation’s mission forward” said Bryan Loo, Chief Executive Officer of Loob Holding.
Loo then explained how the timing of the award was apt as it was not only another breakthrough for the company, but was also in line with the Tealive brand’s ‘Breakthrough’ campaign which aims to encourage Malaysians to achieve ‘breakthrough’ results, moving beyond obstacles to achieve their goals.
“As a company, we find ourselves making breakthroughs on a regular basis. I believe that this is a result of the chemistry between the members of the team. An example of a recent breakthrough we’ve made is the rollout of our LOOBies mobile application which serves as a digital learning and communication platform to ensure timely and accurate learning content is disseminated to all employees.
“LOOB hopes to upkeep this momentum and hence, we are currently on the lookout, or should I say ‘loobout’ for more young and dynamic talents to join the team,” concluded Loo.
According to Professor Dr Henry Yeoh, Vice President, People and Culture of LOOB Holding who is concurrently the Deputy President of the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM), LOOB Holding possibly fits the bill due to the following: ‘Fair Compensation and Benefits’, ‘Performance Incentives’, ‘Career Advancement Opportunities’, ‘Training and Development’, ‘Freedom and Respect’, ‘Passionate Commitment’ and, last but not least, ‘Job Security’.
“At Loob Holding, the Compensation and Benefits (C&B) offered are constantly being reviewed and enhanced in tandem with business growth and financial affordability. The company recognises that to be a talent magnet, their C&B offerings must be reasonably attractive for incoming talent and also have strong retention properties to incentivise existing talents to stay with the organisation for a longer period of time.”
“A recent breakthrough that they’ve made in this department is the introduction of medical insurance for all employees and their dependents; and a fairly comprehensive leave policy that includes paternity and child care.”
“Performance Incentives comprise bonuses and sales performance incentives which are paid monthly to performing outlet staff that have exceeded their base-targets, therefore, constantly motivating them to ‘breakthrough’ obstacles and achieve goals. Regarding career advancement opportunities, as the LOOB footprint now extends to outside Malaysia, so do the opportunities! The company feels it is important for employees to be able to demonstrate new skills through learning and promotion.
“Freedom and Respect – LOOB is generally a young start-up comprising mainly Gen-Y and Millennial employees. To be able to meet the aspirations of the young workforce, the company highlights transparency and respect for openness. Don’t worry, we get you!
“At LOOB, the management makes it a point to have regular communication with staff to assure them that they have their welfare at heart. We refer to this as ‘Passionate Commitment’. It is also common practice to solicit opinions and thoughts from key staff before any major decisions are made. By aligning employees with organisational goals, values and ethics, the company is able to have a higher level of workforce commitment from employees.
