Salam Web Technologies MY Sdn. Bhd. (Salam Web Technologies) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote a safer online environment that is free from vices and toxic elements.
The signing ceremony was facilitated by the Managing Director of Salam Web Technologies, Puan Hajjah Hasni Zarina Mohamed Khan and the Dean of Faculty of Electrical Engineering of UiTM, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Hj. Mohd Nasir Taib.
The three-year partnership is designed to provide a learning platform for both students and staff with internship, research and scholarship opportunities and a design competition with a focus on the ethical usage of internet, the programme hope to encourage industry – academia dialogue, and bolster the development and growth of the Islamic Digital Economy.
“In this hyper-connected, information saturated era, there is an urgent need to enhance the online experience by weeding out potentially harmful and toxic content as behaviour that is unacceptable in real life is unacceptable on a computer screen as well and we need an approach that is ethical without restricting growth and innovation in the digital economy hence creating a better internet starts with investing in Malaysia’s future – the youth.
“By working together with the students and staff of UiTM’s Centre for Computer Engineering Studies (CCES) and Faculty of Electrical Engineering, we hope to spark a conversation about technology and provide a safer, more ethical choice when it comes to the online world.
“This is the first step in building a stronger community, rooted with a strong ethical perspective on technology and the internet,” said Salam Web Technologies managing director, Hasni Zarina.
The signing of this MoU between the two institutions today symbolises a partnership that will lead to new synergies to mutually benefit and enhance value for both UiTM and Salam Web Technologies in the years ahead.
