The Negeri Sembilan Lorry Operator’s Association (NSLOA) organised its second trucking carnival in Seremban today after a seven-year hiatus.
NSLOA president, Lee Hung Yang, revealed that he hope through this event, it will present an opportunity for the industry players to know them better especially the new members.
“As one of Malaysia’s oldest lorry operator association, we want to set an example as a progressive association that can help safeguard our members’ interest and help them compete locally and internationally.
“We will continue to work collaboratively with both the public and private sector to ensure our members’ voice are heard and well represented in discussions with government agencies, suppliers and customers,” Lee Hung Yang, President of NSLOA.
The two-day carnival was held at D’Tempat Country Club, with the participation of 26 local and international sponsors and exhibitors from the heavy vehicle industry.
Negeri Sembilan’ Chief Minister, Aminuddin Harun lauded the NSLOA for bringing an exhibition of such scale back to Seremban and for its effort in helping to improve and reenergize the transport and trucking industry in Negeri Sembilan.
“The State Government welcome this carnival which is open to the public so that everyday people can understand more about the road transport industry, and have a closer look at a truck.
“They will appreciate the technology and innovation in the modern trucks of today. It is our intention to seek a much closer relationship and dialogue with the industries in our state.
“We, as the government, want to ensure that the people in our state are well looked after and their interests represented fairly,” he said.
His speech was read by Negeri Sembilan State Exco, Choo Ken Hwa.
The carnival features an impressive showcase of products and services by the participating transport companies and among its highlights are informative seminars on truck safety presented by SKF Malaysia, Guardian South East Asia Pte Ltd and Hong Seng Group on the first day of the carnival.
The event culminates with a gala dinner on the second night together with Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Malaysia’s Minister of Transport, in conjunction with NSLOA’s celebration of its 84th anniversary.
Loke has reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to continue to work with NSLOA and other transport associations to bring about efficiency and cost reductions in the industry and to resolve problems in regulations and enforcements.
Besides that, Lee also explained that NSLOA will be carrying out several improvements this year to enable its members to remain competitive and to help enhance the standard in the trucking industry.
Among some of the changes, is the debut of NSLOA’s website which will provide vital information to its members related to the trucking industry.
Members can login to get information about meetings with government agencies and upcoming seminar and events, as well as view training and transport-related articles.
“We see the importance of maintaining a close connection with our suppliers, members and customers. By introducing our new office bearers in this carnival as well as providing a platform for market players to meet and mingle, we hope it will be an opportunity for everyone to get to know us better”, ended Lee.
