The Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) chief executive officer, Ashran Ghazi announced his resignation from the organisation.
Ashran stated that his official last day would be on December 12 and he would be joining Dattel, a regional consumer intelligence company that is based in Malaysia where he would assume the position of chief executive officer.
Ashran also mentioned that he has no visibility on who his successor would be at the current time and that the interim chief executive officer would be MaGIC’s current executive director, finance & corporate services, Amiruddin Abdul Shukor.
In conjunction with the announcement, Ashran has also announced that MaGIC has moved under the Entrepreneur Development Ministry from their original position under the Finance Ministry.
“I have been delaying the resignation for quite some time, and only tendered my resignation when MaGIC was safe in the hands of another ministry,” said Ashran.
MaGIC will now be getting its funding from the new ministry the sum of which is about the same as it has been for the past years, annually since its establishment it has received RM50 million and for the past four years it had been allocated about RM197 million.
MaGIC has also announced that as of November, it has impacted 90,392 entrepreneurs and about 984 startups through its many programmes.
