The diversity and complexity of the post‐modern era places new and important challenges for the Takaful industry. Without having fulfilled the requirements pertaining to the education, it is difficult for the industry to achieve the prerequisites of professionalism.
Azli Munani, Chief Executive Officer / Executive Secretary of Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA), said, “Excellence is not static. To remain professional and to lead, there is a need to not only exceed expectations but also to develop ways of assessing and measuring these expectations”. He added “The element of professionalism demands that we safeguard and sustain the integrity of our profession and the industry”.
MTA in its statement today (26 November 2018), encouraged its leaders to continue to pursue high professionalism whilst pushing the boundaries of best standards of the industry. Empowering leaders with skills and knowledge who in turn inspire at every level, up and down their organization is vital. “We have to evolve together with the times; the digital era is within us and transformation is but a necessity”, said Encik Azli Munani.
On that note, since last year, MTA has always encouraged its Management Committee to upskill further. Salim Majid Zain Abdul Majid, CEO of Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad and Elmie Aman Najas, CEO of AIA PUBLIC Takaful Bhd. received the Fellowship of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (FMII) award in August 2017.
Continuing the Association’s pursuit for professional excellence, this year saw two Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) from its member companies being conferred the FMII award recently. The recipients were Muhammad Fikri Mohamad Rawi, CEO of Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad and Mohd Asri Omar, CEO of Hong Leong MSIG Takaful Berhad.
Muhammad Fikri was also awarded the Best Student Award by Subject for Ethics in Business (EIB). Being a Fellow of MII (FMII) indicates that the holder has attained the highest level of professional qualification and that they are committed to continuing professional development.
FMII fellowship, which is the most prestigious and highest level of professional insurance qualification in Malaysia, was presented to recipients during the MII graduation ceremony 2018 at Lanai Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia, early this month.
Since its launch in 2016, a total of 48 CEOs and senior industry leaders have attained the FMII award, including 39 from Malaysia, seven from Indonesia, and one each from Cambodia and Myanmar.
