SUBANG JAYA, 14 February 2020 – Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) today announces that ROSE Foundation has selected Digi’s Omni Hotline as its preferred general hotline provider, in its effort to help women seek support on cervical cancer screening.
The Foundation’s Program ROSE (Removing Obstacles to cervical ScrEening) is the world’s first self-sampling screening programme for cervical cancer. In Malaysia, cervical cancer is the third most common cancer among Malaysian women. However, only 25% of eligible women had a pap smear done from 2013-2017, with many citing fear, embarrassment, inconvenience and lack of awareness about cervical screening as barriers to going through the proper screening procedures.
Launched in 2019, ROSE seeks to help more Malaysian women overcome these barriers and provide them with the accessibility and ability to carry out the tests on their own. However, the non-profit organisation faced their own challenges in terms of cost and efficiency when it came to connecting with their patients and clients whilst on the go.
Previously, ROSE Foundation staff had to rely on using separate phones and mobile numbers – this proved costly and difficult to manage as patients had to call several different numbers to get the assistance that they required.
With Omni Hotline, ROSE Foundation is now able to manage calls with the app’s Interactive Virtual Receptionist (IVR) and automate call routing for its patient support representatives who can now use a single dedicated virtual office number to help patients.
Omni Hotline’s general hotline capabilities gives ROSE Foundation the chance to be more efficient and credible. The ability to address enquiries in private over the phone also helps to eliminate the fear and embarrassment associated with typical screening activities at clinics.
ROSE Foundation plans to use Omni Hotline’s call routing features to help provide better patient services especially after regular office hours, where calls can be attended to through voicemails or by routing it to designated representatives outside the office directly on their mobile phones. The gains in efficiency derived from this capability will enable ROSE Foundation to be accessible to more women in Malaysia, at any time.
