17th March 2020, Kuala Lumpur – The Asian Rail Academy (ARA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Trisakti Institute of Transportation and Logistics from Indonesia on 5th March to officially collaborate in offering internationally recognised railway programmes in developing highly skilled railway professionals in Indonesia.
ITL Trisakti or Trisakti Institute of Transportation and Logistics is a leading Higher Education for Transportation and Logistics studies in Indonesia. Owned by Trisakti Foundation, ITL Trisakti, established in 1970, currently offers Diploma, Bachelor and Masters programmes in Transportation and Logistics studies including Bachelor in Infrastructure and Environmental Engineering for Railway. ITL Trisakti is based in Jakarta, Indonesia and operates in two campuses.
“We are pleased to officially announce the collaboration between Asian Rail Academy with Trisakti Institute of Transportation and Logistics to offer globally recognised railway programmes to support the increasingly high demand for high skilled railway professionals in the Southeast Asian region especially in Indonesia,” said Mr RA Thiagaraja, Chief Executive Officer of the Asian Rail Academy (ARA).
“Seeing the rapid growth of the rail industry in the region, it is important to meet the training demands in the rail industry with an appropriate range of professional world-class training courses. Under the terms of the MOU signed between ARA and ITL Trisakti, the partnership sees collaborative intelligence to undertake roles complementing one another in implementing training programmes in the region,” he added.
“With the growth in the rail industry in South East Asia, we selected the Asian Rail Academy (ARA) in Malaysia in this strategic collaboration for the development of the railway workforce in Indonesia. The collaboration between Asian Railway Academy and ITL Trisakti will strengthen our position in Indonesia, particularly in the rail sector. The Asia Rail Academy has wide knowledge about future training needs in this sector, including certified programmes that are recognised worldwide,” said Dr. Juliater Simarmata, Vice President of ITL Trisakti.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was witnessed by members of the Dibta Group, ARA’s partner in Indonesia. Delegates from Trisakti headed by Dr. Mayjen (PURN) Djanadi Bimo, Chairman of Trisakti Foundation visited ARA’s high-end virtual reality lab followed by a short presentation by ARA.
With a range of suitable training programmes in the rail industry established in Malaysia, the Asian Rail Academy fulfils a key pillar in the 11th Malaysia Plan in enhancing human capital development, spearheading the nation forward for greater advancement into being a fully developed nation.
The Asian Rail Academy programmes are run using an interactive software channel that tracks learners’ progress. Unlike the typical traditional classroom learning, the training will use highly immersive Virtual Reality (VR) technology via the Oculus Rift headset, where trainees visualise and interact with rail components in a 3D-environment. The learning process has evolved to where trainees will be able to navigate into sealed and inaccessible components and interact with them.
