According to media reports, as of early January 2021, 90% of Malaysians were wearing masks when appearing in public places during the Covid-19 outbreak, up from 55% in late February 2020. This reflects the discernment and consciousness of Malaysians to keep safe aligned with the government’s call for practical control movements and encouraging Malaysians to keep wearing masks and social distancing with stricter penalties.
