KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 – In conjunction with the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, Sports Association of Malaysia (SAM) takes the initiative to organise SAM Virtual Run & Ride in support of Malaysian athletes in pursue of medals at the Olympic.
The Virtual Run & Ride is open to all Malaysian starting from July 18 to August 8. There will be two categories to compete – a five-kilometres run and a 20km ride. Entry free is RM15 and each participant will receive an E-certificate and E-Bip.
Participants can plan their own running and cycling time as they wish within the period of competition. They need to record their activities using any running application be it Strava, Garmin, Fitbit, Samsung App or other and send the screenshot tracking device as proof.
For those who are using treadmill, they will need to submit a screenshot of the duration and distance completed.
From July 23 onwards, participants need to submit a video of their running activity.
"This Virtual Run & Ride competition is an initiative taken by SAM to connect with Malaysian sports fans," said SAM Secretary General, Asan Ahmad. He further added that the objective of the Run & Ride is to stir up the Olympic atmosphere among Malaysian and to give full morale support to our athletes who is gunning to bring home the glory and honour at the international stage.
“On the other hand, we hope this Virtual Run and Ride will encourage us to stay healthy and fit during this Covid19 pandemic.”
