2ND AUGUST 2021, SUBANG JAYA – HealthMetrics is aware that vaccination is crucial in lowering fatalities and reducing the symptoms even if they are infected with COVID-19 at any given time. In addition, vaccination is essential to build herd immunity within the community, creating protection for people who cannot receive the vaccine. For instance, specific vulnerable groups cannot receive the shot due to the likelihood of suffering severe allergic reactions because of the components used in the vaccine, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Alongside the government’s efforts in overcoming the pandemic, HealthMetrics has launched its “Race to Herd Immunity” campaign which the company has kicked off in May with community webinar as part of its CSR activities in a bid to educate the community on the different vaccines, address the community’s questions and dispel any misinformation. Prior to this, HealthMetrics also launched a COVID-19 DocBot where the public can chat with a chatbot to learn more on COVID-19. The company has also launched the COVID-19 screening locator where its corporate clients & members are able to locate the nearest healthcare partners with COVID-19 RT-PCR & RTK tests.
In continuation to that, HealthMetrics is supporting the government expansion of vaccination efforts via private partnership to speed up the nationwide vaccination efforts. On this note, HealthMetrics is partnering with Health Junction and Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre (MGRC) Berhad to offer COVID-19 vaccination service to organisations looking to have its employees vaccinated to protect the workforce with the eventual objective to restart operations in line with the post-MCO market reopening.
Understanding that vaccination should be done as early as it is available, it should be accessible to all especially to essential workers in manufacturing industry. This might come as unconventional for many people as employees at manufacturing industry are not considered a frontliner. However, looking at the cases that are mostly originated from work clusters, and variants that mutating heavily as we progress, speeding up vaccination at all levels is crucial to ensure that the virus mutation will not be evolving within the community.
The concept is that the longer the virus is in the community, it will made transmission easier for the virus. This allows the virus to have higher survival rates, hence giving time for the virus to mutate into more dangerous variants. As of today, WHO has listed four variants of concern (VOC) and four variants of interest (VOI) that has been evolved from COVID-19 virus.
Alvin Yuan, CEO of HealthMetrics, hopes that this effort will get more people vaccinated, in line with the government goal for 80% of the Malaysian population to get their vaccine by the end of 2022. In addition to that, with this integrated effort, whether through the National Immunisation Programme or private channels, the creation of herd immunity within the community can be achieved faster to combat the battle against COVID-19.
On another note, the HealthMetrics platform has included a feature that has assisted users to locate the nearest healthcare providers registered in the system, for the arrangement for the COVID-19 test. This has provided convenience to HealthMetrics users to easily locate the nearest clinic from their current location to book the COVID-19 test.
