Marking yet another medical milestone, Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) has made waves in the regional medical fraternity by being the first hospital in Asia to successfully perform a revolutionary heart valve treatment for patients suffering from right heart leaky valve, also known as tricuspid regurgitation (TR). Left untreated, the condition can lead to heart failure.
The innovative heart valve treatment procedure was conducted by the Heart Failure & Heart Transplant team and Cardiology Department.
Designed for severe TR patients with a high risk for open-heart surgery, this minimally invasive procedure involves the use of a dry valve on a preloaded delivery system, called the Tricvalve® Transcatheter Bicaval Valves system (Bioprosthesis).
The medical device is manufactured by OrbusNeich P&F – a joint partnership between OrbusNeich® Medical Company Ltd. and P&F Products & Features®.
