PETALING JAYA – The World Halal Business Conference (WHBC) 2021 which has ended last Thursday, has reached a voice to narrow down and focus on 6 major resolutions in facilitating and discussing the industry's needs to re-evaluate its existing strengths.
Through the main branch of resolution, WHBC 2021 has opened up a larger new market that is able to provide spaces for Halal products and services to create an increment on the worldwide demand;
The resolution was presented by the Chief Executive Officer, Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC), Mr. Hairol Ariffein, while winding up the conference which has received more than 2.0 million anticipated viewers, tuned in from over 61 countries around the world.
Mr. Hairol said the second point from the resolution is also becoming one of the priorities in this conference. It is regarding the Halal industry-friendly policies and legislations need to be in the place of further enhanced in linking the Halal ecosystems between the countries, from all over the world.
“From the session we held today, many ideas have been shared, as well as the resolutions that have been successfully reached, however, we still need to focus on a few things more.
“The 3rd point in the resolution is the importance of developing or improving quality integrated infrastructure for the Halal industry by incorporating environmental, social and governance criteria in order to ensure the sustainability of the global halal ecosystem, to be aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs).
“Importantly, the number of Halal industry experts needs to be developed to meet the growing global demands for Halal industry expertise.
"In line with that, leadership thinking and creative values must be promoted to create global outreach and the expansion of the Halal diaspora," he said at the event which was held entirely virtual.
WHBC 2021 was officiated by YB Dato ’Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) who delivered a keynote address at WHBC on behalf of the Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaacob.
For the moment, according to Mr. Hairol at the event, the focus of the final resolution of the conference was to produce more champions in the Halal industry.
It aims to stimulate the local economy, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as increasing the export and trade in Halal products and services.
With the theme of “Halal - The Catalyst for Universal Economic Recovery”, the conference involved the participation of Halal industry key players, stakeholders, and key players in reviving the world economy, from the aftermath of the pandemic Covid -19.
As the event organizer, HDC’s vision is to target the Halal industry as the first choice in the venture.
In this regard, HDC plays a role as the country’s leading government agency to further develop, as well as to accelerate the growth of the Halal industry and the economy, so that it will benefit the country and also the Muslims from all around the world.
In his speech, Mr. Hairol emphasized that from these resolutions, HDC shall strive to commit in progressing the global Halal industry ahead, towards sustainability and recovery, in overcoming the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, by championing Malaysia as a focal point in Halal thought leadership; Industry nurturing and value creation to preserve the underlying objectives of Halal and the Shariah principles itself, which can be exemplified through social solidarity.
HDC commends the commitment of public-private organisations, special mention also to Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz and Director General of the Islamic Development Department Malaysia (JAKIM), Datuk Abdul Aziz Jusoh towards the success of all related Malaysia Halal’s events from 9 Sept until 31st December 2021.
