Kuala Lumpur, 01 November 2021 – In conjunction with the 13th annual 11.11 Global Shopping Festival, Taobao today announced new shipping and payment protection features in addition to a range of special deals that will offer Malaysian consumers a simpler and fun online shopping experience.
Among a slew of other service upgrades, Taobao has launched the new Taobao Direct Shipping feature, which aims to make it easier and more seamless for Malaysian consumers to cart out while paying for the instantly calculated shipping fee all with a few clicks. Customers can then simply wait for their packages to be delivered to their doorstep. In addition, customers who have activated and verified their Lazada Wallet account on the Taobao app will be able to enjoy Lazada Wallet Payment Protection, and check out with Lazada Wallet safely.
This year, the 11.11 festival will have two pre-sale periods, from 20 to 31 October and from 4 to 10 November, allowing Malaysian consumers to browse products and make shopping decisions ahead of the two actual sales windows, which will take place from 1 to 3 November and on 11 November. During the pre-sale periods, shoppers can also grab deals and products
ahead of time by paying a deposit via their Lazada Wallet credit card or wallet balance.

Simpler shopping on Taobao in just a few clicks
With the new Taobao Direct Shipping feature, Taobao is able to calculate automatically and display the exact sea or air freight charges for direct shipping to Malaysia on the checkout page. Shoppers no longer need to wait for their items to arrive at the cross-border consolidation warehouse, and only then be made aware of and pay for the shipping charges. They can now simultaneously pay for their purchases and shipping fee in just a few clicks.
The Taobao Direct Shipping service also allows shoppers to combine multiple orders across different stores and pay only once for direct shipping to Malaysia, which helps them save on shipping fees. Shoppers will also be able to save more with further price cuts on millions of products participating in Direct Shipping for a variety of categories such as home and décor, fashion, mother and baby, and many more.
Additionally, they can enjoy free cross-border shipping for purchases of RMB299 or more for products listed in the “RMB299 Free Cross-Border Shipping” section.
More peace-of-mind while shopping
The integrated Lazada Wallet on the Taobao app, which was introduced to Malaysian consumers last year to provide a hassle-free and secure channel for instant payments on Taobao app, has been very well-received.
This year, users who have activated and verified their Lazada Wallet on the Taobao app can rest assured that they will be covered under the “Lazada Wallet Payment Protection” plan. The plan protects users in the event of any unauthorized transaction made via unauthorized access to their account, to enable a safer payment experience.
Shoppers who make purchases using Lazada Wallet on Taobao also do not have to worry about missing out on offers. The Wallet allows users to grab offers and make instant payments smoothly. Shoppers can simply top up their Lazada Wallet in advance to snap the deals faster during the sale.
Malaysians are now able to use Lazada Wallet to pay deposits and secure their favourite items during the pre-sale window. For the first time, the Lazada Wallet and local bank credit cards are accepted for deposits made during pre-sale this 11.11.
