Kuala Lumpur, 16 November 2021 – Global FMCG sustainability leader Unilever once again partnered up with Malaysia’s leading eCommerce platform, Lazada, to activate its Shop2Give Super Brand Day for their fourth consecutive year on 30th of July to lend a helping hand to those who have been impacted by the prolonged national lockdown such as the B40 households, refugees and the underprivileged. With uncertain times looming ahead, Unilever Malaysia pledged to donate a care package to a family in need with every purchase made during their Super Brand Day.
Marcos Nakagawa, General Manager Malaysia & Singapore explained that “This campaign is meant to tackle one of the most critical issues of our time by harnessing the full-scale impact of our brand and protecting one of the most fundamental needs of a person. We are a company of brands and people with a big purpose – to make sustainable living commonplace. Hence, we are doing our part in helping the underprivileged, especially those that have been impacted by the Covid-19 situation through this campaign.”
This year, Unilever Malaysia has doubled their contribution through the collaboration with The Lost Food Project. Care packages were donated to 5,000 families in need around Klang Valley. Understanding how Covid-19 has exerted its effect over society, the care packages donated will consist of prominent brands such as Dove, Lifebuoy, Sunsilk, Rexona, and many more to encourage good personal hygiene and help minimize the risk of infection amongst the underprivileged.
During a 24-hour period on 30th July 2021, the Shop2Give campaign through Unilever’s Flagship Store on LazMall offered consumers top-of-the-line products with affordable prices including exclusive products, limited vouchers, premium packaging as well as exciting contest prizes to drive and amplify the campaign. Each item purchased during that period of time gave consumers a chance to do their part and support this initiative.
“We were extremely inspired to see the overall response from Malaysians who rallied together to showcase the better side of human nature, and this is a value that Unilever Malaysia holds closely to its core,” explained Marcos Nakagawa.
Unilever Malaysia has once again stepped up to the plate in their commitment to driving their Unilever Sustainability Living Plan with the efforts in this Shop2Give Super Brand Day. Unilever is an organisation with a strong sense of purpose and is proud to work with partners like Lazada Malaysia, NGOs such as The Lost Food Project, and other like-minded organisations to support those most vulnerable during this trying time.
“We want to do more good for our planet and our society – not just less harm. We want to act on the social and environmental issues facing the world and we want to enhance people’s lives with our products. This initiative is just one of the ways to make that impact. We will always do our part in making the world a better place,” Marcos Nakagawa concludes.
