Kuala Lumpur, 19 November 2021 – Having the right options to suit individual needs is key to building financial resilience. Understanding this, Zurich Malaysia introduced the Zurich Takaful Shariah Edge Fund with multi award winning Kenanga Investors Berhad (“Kenanga Investors”) to provide options for Malaysians to select from and build towards their future.
The introduction of the Zurich Takaful Shariah Edge Fund brings the total number of fund options to 10 to cater to different customers’ requirements. It is a feeder fund that invests in Kenanga Shariah Growth Opportunities Fund (KSGOF), an Islamic equity growth fund actively managed based on both quantitative and qualitative disciplines.
Zurich Takaful Chief Executive Officer Nazrul Hisham Abd Hamid said of this introduction, “Investments form a basis in achieving financial security and resilience. Responding to customer needs, we wanted to provide the right tools for customers to achieve their financial goals and build their portfolio to create a brighter future. This Zurich Takaful Shariah Edge Fund adds on to our nine existing options, so customers have flexibility to select one that fits their investment goals.”
“We are excited with this opportunity to collaborate with one of the top global and local insurance companies, Zurich Malaysia which offers a wide range of Shariah compliant products. We have actively supported the rising interest in socially responsible investing and Islamic investments, which have
experienced an increase in demand during this post-pandemic period. With the growing need for more sophisticated financial solutions, I am confident this collaboration will boost the exchange of ideas and existing business interactions between both institutions to offer innovative financial solutions that will benefit Malaysians,” said Ismitz Matthew De Alwis, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kenanga Investors.
The Fund is ideal for investors with medium to long-term investment horizon seeking high capital appreciation from Shariah-compliant securities, have moderate to high risk tolerance and can withstand short-term volatility. The Fund aims to achieve consistent capital appreciation over the long term by primarily investing in Shariah-compliant securities with good growth prospects.
In the past 10 years, the KSGOF has outperformed the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia EMAS Shariah Index in all but two years. In the latest financial year alone, it outperformed the index by 30.22%1. Its investment strategy focuses on recovery and structural growth themes such as consumer retail and leisure, industrials and materials, technology, electronics manufacturing services (EMS) and renewable energy.
The Zurich Takaful Shariah Edge Fund is available through Zurich Takaful’s investment-linked products such as Takaful ProInvest and Takafulink single investment.
