PETALING JAYA November 22, 2021 – Roche Malaysia is proud to announce and welcome Deepti Saraf as the new General Manager of Roche (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the pharmaceutical division. Deepti will be responsible for leading the team as well as having general management responsibilities and will report to Ahmed Elhusseiny, the APAC Area Head. Deepti’s announcement is timely, as Roche celebrates its 125 years of legacy this year - celebrating its history, its culture and the enduring purpose that guides Roche’s next 125 years toward a sustainable, healthy future.
Deepti brings over 17 years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical industry in India and Thailand. “I am truly excited to be partnering with the Malaysian healthcare eco-system and I look forward to serving my Malaysian team in this new role,” said Deepti.
Deepti demonstrates great leadership over the recent years especially through transformation and healthcare ecosystem shaping initiatives. She is a strong collaborator and a great advocate for Diversity & Inclusion - open to work across a diverse group of people and seeking out different perspectives. Her strategic thinking, authentic leadership style coupled with a high self-awareness and learning agility makes her the right leader for an innovative and progressive affiliate like Malaysia.
Since joining Roche in 2013 she has worked across multiple disease areas including Oncology, Foundation Medicine (FMI), Infectious Disease, Rheumatology and Nephrology. Furthermore, she has been part of leadership teams in both India and Thailand. Deepti also successfully led the agile transformation of the Thailand affiliate as Chief Transformation Officer in 2019. She also played a key role in managing the external stakeholders and partners when it came to health ecosystem shaping initiatives in Thailand and Philippines.
In addition to this, Deepti’s personal leadership purpose is to help people discover their true potential. She is deeply committed to building a culture that empowers decision making, whilst encouraging innovation and experimentation that benefit patients.
“We are very pleased that Deepti will be joining our team in Malaysia, as we believe that Deepti has the energy and passion to lead the company through the next phase of growth and we look forward to her building on the strong foundation we already have in Malaysia,” says Ahmed Elhusseiny, the APAC Area Head. The management team extends their sincerest gratitude to Lance Duan, the previous GM of Roche Malaysia for his leadership, passion, and dedication over the past 4 years. In May this year, he took on a new role and joined the Global Product Strategy Team at the Roche headquarters in Basel, Switzerland.
“I am truly excited to join the Roche Malaysia team, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect as this year, Roche celebrates its 125th anniversary, and we want to continue to inspire the world about our commitment to people’s health for the next 125 years and beyond. Centered on the theme ‘Celebrate Life’, our 125 year campaign aims to build trust with our internal and external audiences while demonstrating how we are making unique contributions to healthcare. I am proud to share that one of the initiatives under this campaign, are life talk sessions, covering current and future topics in healthcare, science and sustainability that affect lives around the globe.”
“At Roche, our sense of purpose and objective is clear - to focus on delivering better outcomes to more patients faster through our innovation in diagnostics, medicines and healthcare solutions. This is our 125-year legacy. It is also our promise for the future,” Deepti concluded.
