Subang Jaya, 4 December 2021 - Proficient, Malaysia’s first end-to-end construction project management platform, has recently formalised its industry collaboration with Taylor’s University through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
With an aim to cultivate industry-relevant graduates to meet the ever-evolving demands of the professions within the fields of architecture, building and design, Proficient will provide an education license for its proprietary cloud-based project management software to the university’s School of Architecture Building and Design (SABD).
With the license, staff and students of SABD will have access to training that will equip them with the skills of operating the proprietary software. A certificate of competency will also be awarded to individuals who can demonstrate the ability to operate Proficient’s software adequately.
The MoU was signed by Oliver Roche, Chairman of Proficient, and Professor Dr David Asirvatham, Executive Dean, Faculty of Innovation & Technology, Taylor’s University; witnessed by Jitin Girdhar, Chief Executive Officer of Proficient.
Oliver Roche, Chairman of Proficient, said, “The global economy is currently on a paradigm shift due to the global pandemic. All industries are expediting the adoption of technology, and it is no different for the world of construction. Through this partnership with Taylor’s University, we will focus on bringing the industry into the classroom to provide the students with practical industry projects and skills that are required to thrive in the competitive scene”.
The collaboration will also pave the way for the development of a new integrated Construction Project Management module which will further expose students to real world industry practices through partnerships with different professionals in a construction project — architects, suppliers, contractors, and many more.
“To further prepare students for the real estate industry, Proficient will also prioritise internship opportunities for SABD students in the module by providing invaluable placement opportunities within the company and our associated partners. We are also hoping to explore more collaboration avenues with Taylor’s University to ensure that our future generation of graduates are industry-ready in facing the impending economic challenges in the industry,” Jitin Girdhar, Chief Executive Officer of Proficient, announced at the MoU signing.
Professor Dr David Asirvatham, Executive Dean, Faculty of Innovation & Technology, Taylor’s University, said, “With IR 4.0 and the pandemic, the construction industry has propelled the use of digitization and technology. This collaboration between Proficient and Taylor’s is indeed timely as the School of Architecture, Building and Design has been moving towards technology-driven and real-world learning in order to provide students with an immersive learning environment. I am confident that the introduction, training and module collaboration via Proficient will provide our students an authentic edge to stay relevant in the construction project management fraternity. I am also certain that this will open new opportunities related to construction project management education in SABD”.
