9 April 2022, Kuala Lumpur – Kumpulan Medic Iman Sdn. Bhd. (“KMI Healthcare”), the healthcare arm of TDM Berhad, yesterday signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with Mutiara Premier Sdn. Bhd. (“MPSB”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (“PHB”), for the development of a private hospital in Bandar Baru Tunjong, Kota Bharu Kelantan.
Pursuant to the HoA, the multi-discipline, full-ranged private hospital in Bandar Baru Tunjong will be built by MPSB to accommodate 94 beds on 9.56 acres of land with a minimum of 300 parking bays for Phase 1. At a later stage, subject to viability, both parties will be discussing a potential expansion of an additional 100 beds and 300 parking bays for Phase 2.
The indicative Gross Development Cost (GDC) for the development of the hospital is RM129 mil for Phase 1 of the project.

In his speech, YB Dr. Haji Alias bin Razak, the State Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment Committee Chairman and also Director of KMI Healthcare said, “Today’s agreement signifies our efforts and strategies of expanding our hospitals through greenfield and brownfield hospitals that we have been pursuing since 2020.
“We are confident, Insha Allah, that this momentum will continue and will be the catalyst to our future growth, more so in line with our Asset Light Strategy,” he added.

In particular, the definitive agreement will constitute the entire agreement between MPSB and KMI Healthcare with respect to the term of 15 plus 15 years leasing period.
KMI Healthcare currently runs five hospitals, namely KMI Kuala Terengganu Medical Centre (formerly known as Kuala Terengganu Specialist Hospital), KMI Kuantan Medical Centre, KMI Kelana Jaya Medical Centre, KMI Taman Desa Medical Centre, and KMI Tawau Medical Centre, the latest addition to KMI Healthcare chain of hospitals which was recently acquired.
The new inception of KMI Tunjong Medical Centre will strengthen KMI Healthcare’s footprint in the East Coast Belt Region, together with its existing medical centres in Kuantan and Kuala Terengganu.
