Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL), Malaysia’s soon to be opened cardiac and vascular hospital recently had a lively World Heart Day celebration in the vicinity of the hospital.
With the celebration, CVSKL aims to create awareness in the community for healthy living to avoid or manage heart problems through healthy diet, regular exercise and smoking cessation.
Additionally, CVSKL wants to encourage individuals to do their annual health screening to identify symptoms of any illness early and take steps to manage or treatment it during its infancy. Education on compliance to treatment and medication is another aspect being focused on.
By improving knowledge on prevention and control, it is possible to reduce the prevalence and mortality rate due to cardiac diseases.
Tackling this issue in a subtle way, CVSKL decided to commemorate World Heart Day by organising its inaugural carnival, which it hopes make into an annual event.
There were various booths and activities such as CPR 101, free health screening, lucky draw prizes and even exercise demonstration by Youtube superstar, Joanna Soh.
The event was launched by CVS Holdings Chairman Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Datuk Seri Tunku Ali Redhauddin ibni Tuanku Muhriz.
“I am glad that CVSKL is celebrating World Heart Day. Heart health awareness is a critical part of our health education and raising knowledge in this area will help to improve, and indeed, save people's lives,” said Tunku Ali.
As part of the carnival, CVSKL also introduced a health programme entitled “Challenge Yourself.” It is part of their commitment to the community to achieve their health goals, with the programme being organised by HealthScan Malaysia, an existing boutique health screening provider under CVSKL.
A precursor to the CVSKL World Heart Day Carnival was a symbolic signing ceremony between CVSKL, represented by it Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Yahya Awang and three established Third Party Administrators (TPA) namely MiCare, MediExpress and PMCare.
“It is our honour to have the TPAs with us today to establish a working partnership. We appreciate your trust and commitment in engaging with CVSKL to serve our common clients,” he said.
