KUALA LUMPUR, 18 NOVEMBER 2021: The Bumiputera Business Excellence Awards (BBEA) 2021, a premier Award Programme dedicated in honouring exceptional Bumiputera entrepreneurs and businesses in Malaysia was held today at Hotel Shangri-La, Kuala Lumpur.
KUALA LUMPUR, 18 NOVEMBER 2021: The Bumiputera Business Excellence Awards (BBEA) 2021, a premier Award Programme dedicated in honouring exceptional Bumiputera entrepreneurs and businesses in Malaysia was held today at Hotel Shangri-La, Kuala Lumpur.

The event which was officiated by the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC), Tan Sri Noh Bin Haji Omar, which saw over 65 local Bumiputera entrepreneurs and businesses from various industries, and celebrities getting recognised for their business innovation and achievements.
BBEA 2021 also saw the participation of celebrity entrepreneurs such as Dato Sri Siti Nurhaliza and Datuk Redzuawan Ismail or better known as Chef Wan, who were awarded for their entrepreneurial excellence in the health and beauty sector and culinary industry respectively.
In addition to that, the event also took the opportunity to recognise the various CSR and social impact works done by corporates in the past year through a dedicated award category for ‘Excellence in CSR’ which were received by Bank Rakyat, KPJ Healthcare and Ronald McDonalds Charities Malaysia.
The hallmark individual award for the corporate industry, ‘Corporate Personality of the Year’ was clinched by Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia, Azmir Jaafar, who received the accolade for his outstanding work in driving growth, success and transforming the McDonalds Malaysia brand into becoming one of Malaysia’s favourite fast-food chains.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Bumiputera Business Excellence Awards 2021, Shahir Adnan highlights that the award is a breakthrough in the local Bumiputera business ecosystem as it takes a holistic approach in recognising all Bumi-owned businesses regardless of size, scale or industry.
“The past couple of years has been significantly challenging, more so for the local Bumiputera entrepreneurs and business owners who were hard-hit by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Personally, I have had the privilege of meeting many of the Bumiputera entrepreneurs in our country and I am always inspired by their resilience, their courage to take risks, and their incredible talent and hunger to succeed,” he said.
“The theme of ‘Championing Excellence, Celebrating Togetherness’ resonates well with many in Bumiputera business ecosystem who have showcased incredible dedication and perseverance to succeed as entrepreneurs despite the turbulent economic climate,” Shahir added.
