TDM Berhad (“TDM” or “the Group”) remains committed to continuing the RM100,000 sponsorship to support outstanding B40 students for the “YT-TI Young Talent Scholarship Programme”. The Signing Ceremony at Wisma Darul Iman today was officiated and witnessed by YB Dato' Ustaz Satiful Bahri bin Mamat, Chairman of the Committee on Education, Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Human Development, accompanied by YBM Tengku Seri Bijaya Raja (Dato' Seri Tengku Farok Hussin Tengku Abdul Jalil), State Secretary of Terengganu and Chairman of TDM, and YB Dato' Razali Che Ani, Legal Advisor of the State of Terengganu. Representing the company in signing the agreement was Haji Najman Kamaruddin, Executive Director of TDM.
TDM, along with other Government-Linked Companies (“GLCs”) under the Terengganu Inc (“TI”) Group, complements the funding for Yayasan Terengganu (“YT”)’s existing sponsorship programs. Congratulations to the ten (10) students who have successfully received scholarships today.
YT implements these programs professionally, adhering to industry standards. This strategic collaboration supports the State Government’s commitment to advancing the education sector and human capital development, helping to uncover exceptional talents among the people of Terengganu.
Haji Najman Kamaruddin, Executive Director of TDM, said, “This initiative is one of TDM’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts in supporting educational development, in line with the Company’s mission to embody a corporate model consistent with Shariah compliant status. To ensure the robustness of our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework, we support an ESG framework that positively impacts the business and communities where we operate. This effort is in line with the Sustainable Development Agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), specifically SDG 4, which focuses on providing quality education access to graduates, and SDG 8, which promotes sustainable economic growth.”
TDM consistently supports the State Government's initiatives and programs, particularly those aimed at enhancing education. This commitment is evident through the Terengganu Sejahtera Master Plan (PITAS) 2030 initiative, specifically strategic core action plan 1, which focuses on reinforcing Shariah implementation and strengthening education.
The objective of this plan is to empower Shariah law and ensure educational sustainability based on Rabbani values, lifelong learning, and the internationalization of Terengganu's education. This core also includes a scholarship fund for outstanding students from Terengganu pursuing undergraduate studies.
The scholarship prioritizes the welfare of Terengganu residents, while non-residents must have lived in the state for at least 10 years and demonstrate strong co-curricular records at the state or national level.
The YT-TI scholarship targets low-income families, or B40 groups, and is open to exceptional students from Foundation or Matriculation programs, the Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM), and the Malaysian Higher Religious Certificate (STAM), to further their studies at local universities in selected fields, subject to stipulated conditions. The scholarship supports programs in areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data Science, Muamalat Law, Corporate Administration, Health Sciences (Physiotherapy), and Plantation Management.
These programs address the demands of the global job market, contributing to the development of a high performance workforce. The YT-TI scholarship enables graduates to cultivate their talents and expertise within the state, potentially working with companies under the Terengganu Inc Group, including TDM, or with the State Government and its agencies that require such specialized skills.
“Therefore, through the YT-TI Scholarship sponsorship program, TDM hopes that more Terengganu children from B40 families will have the opportunity to pursue higher education in an effort to improve their family's socioeconomic status ,” added Haji Najman Kamaruddin.
