Tune Talk Unveils Malaysia’s First In-App Streaming and Gaming Features, Pioneering a New Era in Telco Innovation

Tune Talk Unveils Malaysia’s First In-App Streaming and Gaming Features, Pioneering a New Era in Telco Innovation

Malaysia’s fastest-growing and first fully cloud-native network operator, proudly announces the launch of Games and Drama, in Tune Talk App—the country’s first-ever in-app streaming and gaming features introduced by a telco. Seamlessly integrated into the Tune Talk app, this new entertainment hub allows users to watch dramas, play games, and earn rewards in one place, with no additional downloads or third-party logins required.

This launch marks more than just a feature update—it represents a bold business transformation that positions Tune Talk as a disruptive force in Malaysia’s RM42 billion telecommunications industry. As the only fully cloud-native telco in Southeast Asia, Tune Talk is redefining the way mobile networks operate, delivering services that are not only agile and scalable but deeply tuned to how people live, work, and play.

According to the Digital 2025: Malaysia report by DataReportal, 97.7% of Malaysians are internet users, and there are over 43.3 million cellular mobile connections in the country—equivalent to 121% of the total population as of early 2025. The Malaysian telecom market itself is projected to grow from USD 9.07 billion in 2024 to USD 11.54 billion by 2030, driven by digital lifestyle demand, mobile-first behavior, and low-latency entertainment consumption.

“This is just the beginning,” said Gurtaj Singh Padda, Co-founder, Executive Director and CEO of Tune Talk. “We’re not just enhancing connectivity—we’re reimagining what users can do with it. With the launch of Games and Drama in the Tune Talk App, we’re turning everyday digital engagement into a rich, rewarding experience. It also reflects our evolution into a truly fast, lean, cloud-native telco—an operating model built for the future.”

This rollout is made possible through a strategic collaboration with Jolibox, a leading cloud entertainment platform and Tune Talk’s main content partner for both Games and Drama in Tune Talk App. Jolibox’s expertise in embedded content streaming and gamification has enabled seamless, scalable delivery of entertainment within the app—strengthening Tune Talk’s commitment to frictionless digital experiences.

Telco Meets Entertainment

Available exclusively via the Tune Talk app, Drama section features a curated library of streaming content, while Games selection offers casual, instant-play games that require no downloads. Every interaction earns users Tune Points, which can be redeemed for content unlocks, ad-free streaming, or exclusive perks—placing real value at users’ fingertips, powered behind the scenes by Jolibox’s embedded entertainment infrastructure.

Shawn Lim, Head of Marketing at Tune Talk, added: “Today’s users want more than just data—they want effortless, meaningful engagement. With this all-in-one entertainment hub, we’ve made telco simpler, smarter, and a lot more fun. And this is just the beginning of what our cloud-native platform can deliver.”

By running fully in the cloud, Tune Talk eliminates legacy limitations and gains the ability to deploy new features rapidly, automate user personalisation via AI, and reduce operational costs—benefits that few traditional telcos can replicate. The company’s approach aligns closely with the goals of JENDELA and MyDIGITAL, Malaysia’s national initiatives aimed at driving infrastructure modernisation, rural inclusion, and economic digitisation.

“This launch is more than entertainment—it’s proof that a telco can lead in user experience, not just network coverage,” added Gurtaj. “And we’re proud to be setting a new benchmark not only for Malaysia but for the region.”

Jolibox – Powering the Entertainment Core

This game-changing in-app experience is made possible through a close partnership with Jolibox, a leading cloud entertainment platform that specializes in seamless content delivery and gamification. As Tune Talk’s main partner for both Games and Drama, Jolibox brings its technology and content expertise to power a truly integrated entertainment ecosystem.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Tune Talk to bring this innovative experience to life,” said Jiayuan Mao, Director, Global Partnership at Jolibox. “At Jolibox, our mission is to redefine how people access and enjoy digital entertainment. By embedding our platform directly within the Tune Talk App, we’re breaking down barriers and making it easier than ever for Malaysians to watch, play, and be rewarded – all in one place.”

This initiative reflects Tune Talk’s long-term vision to become a lifestyle-first telco, leveraging cloud technology to deliver real value to modern users. Whether streaming or gaming, users can now unlock more by doing what they already love, all at their fingertips.

NES PENS INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION WITH SWISS FIRM SKINROCK AG, LAUNCHES NEW KLANG FACTORY

NES PENS INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION WITH SWISS FIRM SKINROCK AG, LAUNCHES NEW KLANG FACTORY

NES Security Door Marketing Sdn. Bhd. (NES), a leading Malaysian manufacturer of security and safety doors, formalised an international collaboration via a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Switzerland-based Skinrock AG (Skinrock), marking the start of a strategic alliance focused on material innovation and international market growth.

The signing ceremony was held in conjunction with the official launch of NES’s newly-completed manufacturing facility in Klang, officiated by Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary-General (Industry) of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI).

The collaboration comes as Malaysia’s manufacturing sector demonstrated vigorous growth with sales reaching RM1.9 trillion in 2024, a 4.6% increase over the previous year. This includes the non-metallic mineral products, basic metal, and fabricated metal products sub-sector, which covers steel and aluminium fabrication, recording a 3.2% year-on-year sales growth in December 2024, reflecting healthy performance in areas aligned with NES’s core manufacturing focus.

Skinrock is globally recognised for its pioneering development of ultra-thin, flexible natural stone veneers, used extensively in high-end architectural and interior design applications. Under the agreement, NES and Skinrock will explore collaborative opportunities in product integration, research and development, and international distribution, including applying Skinrock’s natural stone veneers in NES’s upcoming products.

Hanafi said, “By bringing together Skinrock’s expertise in natural stone technology with NES’s commitment to high-quality, design-driven production, this partnership lays the foundation for creating export-ready products that are both functional and architecturally unique. It reflects a growing confidence in the ability of Malaysian companies to deliver differentiated solutions for the global market.”

Uelli Stiffler, Founder of Skinrock, highlighted in his speech, saying, “We’re excited to deepen our presence in Southeast Asia through this collaboration. Working with NES allows us to explore new applications and bring our material innovation to a broader market. We hope this inspires more cross-border partnerships between European and Malaysian industries.”

With the new factory boosting NES’s production capacity from 800 to 2,000 units per month, the partnership arrives at a pivotal moment as the company positions itself to capitalise on Malaysia’s dynamic, export-driven manufacturing sector. In 2024, export-oriented industries contributed 70.1% of total manufacturing sales, a 7.1% increase year-on-year. NES’s export roadmap for 2025 targets markets in Taiwan, the Philippines, and Australia, with plans to expand into North America, South Asia, and the Middle East thereafter. Backed by a targeted 20% annual growth rate, NES aims to generate RM45 million in annual export revenue by 2027.

“This MoU is a major milestone, but it is part of a much bigger journey,” said Dato’ Sri Dom Tee, Founder of NES. “We’re not just building doors, we’re building a globally competitive brand. Our sights are set on going public by 2028, with a market valuation target of RM400 million. With meaningful partnerships and consistent growth, we’re confident that we can provide a platform for Malaysian companies to stand tall globally.”

Looking ahead, NES will debut new offerings under the NES x Skinrock brand, incorporating Skinrock’s natural stone veneers as a distinctive design and selling feature. Among the upcoming initiatives is the ‘Master Craft’s Artist’ series, a curated line of one-of-a-kind doors created in collaboration with local and international designers, highlighting the artistic and technical potential of Malaysian manufacturing.
