KUALA LUMPUR, 30 APRIL 2020: Malaysia’s Movement Control Order (MCO), in force since 18 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has led to an increased use of digital platforms and eCommerce. This is one of the positive outcomes in times of adversity. With more than 26 million Malaysians, representing 80% of the population, now connected to the Internet, the MCO has undeniably accelerated fundamental and long-term shift in consumer behaviour and interactions on both domestic and global fronts.
Recognising the imperative for SMEs to embrace digital transformation and better mitigate the immediate impact of COVID-19, the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) is hosting its first and largest e-Dagang Expo (eDX). Running from 4 May until 8 May 2020, this inaugural, nationwide initiative is a timely response to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s recent statement that the government wants to speed up digitalisation to address the new normal.

Kuala Lumpur, 29 April 2020 – Data from LinkedIn Opportunity Index 2020 revealed that while the majority of Malaysians see the importance of having the right connections, nearly 2 in 5 believe their networks are inadequate. In addition, only 1 in 3 Malaysians are looking for networking and mentorship opportunities, which may suggest that many understand the importance of building their networks but are unsure of how to go about doing it.
Amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic, it is all the more important for professionals to stay connected with their networks and even form new connections, to gain access to opportunities now, and in preparation for the future.
