Shah Alam, May 24 – UMW Holdings Berhad’s core businesses – Automotive, Equipment and Manufacturing & Engineering – have remained profitable in the first quarter of 2017 despite exceptionally difficult and challenging operating conditions due to heightened competition, a weak ringgit and subdued consumer demand. 

Only the Group’s listed and unlisted Oil & Gas segments, which are in the process of being divested, recorded losses for the quarter. 

Kuala Lumpur, May 24 – Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) yesterday announced revenue of RM2.1 billion for the period of twelve months, this financial year, an increase of 23% compared to its revenue of RM1.7 billion recorded in the corresponding period last year.  

This increase was in particular due to the inclusion of the newly acquired logistics business coupled with strong growth in its courier business. Profit before tax increased 42% from RM92.5 million in the previous corresponding period to RM131.4 million.

Kuala Lumpur, May 24 - Kerjaya Prospek Group Berhad’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Kerjaya Prospek (M) Sdn. Bhd., yesterday accepted a Letter of Award from TSM Towers Sdn. Bhd, a subsidiary of West River Capital Sdn Bhd, for the building and external works of the proposed development project located on Lot 67328, Jalan PJU 7/6, Mutiara Damansara, Mukin Sungai Buluh, Daerah Petaling, Selangor Darul Ehsan for a total contract sum of Ringgit Malaysia Seventy-Seven Million Only (RM77,000,000.00).

This Project is for the main building works of a new 24 storeys commercial office building, comprises of one (1) block of sixteen (16) storey office building and ancillary works on Lot 67328, Jalan PJU 7/6, Mutiara Damansara, Mukin Sungai Buluh, Daerah Petaling, Selangor Darul Ehsan. The construction works of the Project will take approximately fifteen (15) months from its scheduled commencement in May 2017 and is targeted for completion by fourth quarter of 2018.
