Kuala Lumpur, 20 November 2021 - SINOVAC Biotech Ltd. (NASDAQ: SVA) ("SINOVAC" or the "Company") has announced that results from blind data analysis of a multi-centre, case-driven, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase III clinical trial show that CoronaVac® is safe in healthy children and adolescents aged 3 to 17 years old. The study is being conducted in Chile, Malaysia, the Philippines and South Africa and involves 2,140 participants aged 3 to 17 years, including 684 participants in a safety subgroup. Further studies will extend the age group to 6 months.
Data from the safety subgroup revealed that the incidence of adverse reactions after the second dose was much lower than after the first dose. Common side effects include pain at the injection site, headache, and fever. Most adverse events were mild/moderate (Grade 1 and 2) with no severe adverse reactions.
Kuala Lumpur, 20 November 2021: Kenanga Investors Berhad (“Kenanga Investors”) has been appointed Fund Manager for Dana Wakaf Bencana (“Emergency Waqf Fund”), an emergency relief fund established for the purposes of channelling resources to those affected by climate change-related disasters as well as future pandemics.
On 10 November, Kenanga Investors as Fund Manager, together with Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia (waqf administrator) and MATCH Foundation (distribution agency), signed a Memorandum of Agreement to ensure funds collected are invested and distributed according to waqf principles. The signing was witnessed by Senator Tuan Haji Idris bin Haji Ahmad, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) and Mr Charles Hay, British High Commissioner to Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur, 20 November 2021 – Alliance Islamic Bank Berhad (“Alliance Islamic Bank” or the “Bank”) recently concluded the inaugural three-month Economic Empowerment Programme (“EEP”) for 50 B40 micro-entrepreneurs.
Sponsored by the Bank and undertaken in partnership with People Systems Consultancy (PSC), the EEP equips micro-entrepreneurs with practical knowledge on business innovation, marketing, customer analysis and financial management so that these entrepreneurs would be able to make a living for themselves even during challenging economic situations. This helps empower the lower income community to be self-sufficient through income earned as a business owner. The participants were coached to incorporate what they had learnt during the programme into their businesses. Participants enhanced their digital business literacy, and they were able to tap on opportunities to market their products and services on digital platforms. As a result, their average income improved by over 300% after the 3-month mentorship programme.
