Nippon Paint Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“Nippon Paint”), the leading Total Coating & Construction Solutions provider, through its “Akademi Painter” initiative, aims to train over 400 local entrepreneurs and painters to propel the economic growth in the Klang Valley area by elevating industry standards, create job opportunities, and enhance professional skills in the booming home renovation and construction market.
According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), the labour force participation rate reached 70.6% in 2024, with skill-related underemployment remaining a challenge. The Akademi Painter programme aims to bridge this gap by equipping local painters and entrepreneurs with high-demand skills, improving their employability and income opportunities.
Aligned with Malaysia’s Madani Economy Vision 2030, this programme fosters entrepreneurial growth and employment opportunities. Mr. Tay Sze Tuck, General Manager of Nippon Paint Malaysia, emphasised: “We are committed to supporting our local business owners, painters, and dealers, who are the backbone of our industry. Through upskilling initiatives like Akademi Painter, we strive to foster sustainable livelihoods, drive industry excellence, and contribute to the economic growth of Klang Valley. Ultimately, we aim to empower our painters to help Malaysians create beautiful homes by enhancing their skills and elevating painting standards.”
“As much as we take pride in curating innovative, best-in-class products, proper application is just as crucial. The Akademi Painter initiative equips painters with the technical knowledge needed to understand customer requirements. It covers selecting the right products, using the correct application methods, and addressing common misconceptions. We are proud to be pioneers in offering this training program, which is open to aspiring and established painters and entrepreneurs in the paint and construction industry.”
Ahmad Faizal Bin Mustofa, owner of Noble Resolve Enterprise Painting and previous winner of the Akademi Painter Best Supportive Content Creator award, shared, “Akademi Painter taught me how to market my business and enhance my painting skills, allowing me to deliver top-quality workmanship to my clients. I’m proud to say that my business has grown significantly these 10 years, and I’ve even been able to create job opportunities for my community.”
Additionally, as part of this programme, Nippon Paint incorporated an innovative tool to enhance collaboration and empower local entrepreneurs and painters. Known as Partner Connect, this app offers a range of features to streamline communication and foster growth within the local applicator community.
Nippon Paint aims to catalyse positive change and drive inclusive growth across Klang Valley by equipping entrepreneurs and painters with advanced skills and knowledge. As such, to further inspire attendees and recognise their dedication, Nippon Paint awarded program certificates to dealers and painters, along with the prestigious Best Nippon Paint Supporter’s Award.
Through the Akademi Painter initiative, Nippon Paint continues to invest in the growth and success of local entrepreneurs and painters, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an evolving industry. By fostering technical expertise and collaboration, the programme enhances industry standards and contributes to the economic empowerment of communities in Klang Valley.
