Offset printing technology has long dominated the field of commercial printing. But with the emergence of digitalisation in recent years, digital technology is changing the competitive landscape of the commercial printing market, and companies who fall behind in the shift to digital printing are at risk.
In answering these business challenges and taking the variables into consideration, Canon Marketing (Malaysia) introduced two commercial print line devices -- the third generation varioPRINT DP product line (varioPRINT 140/130/115), and the imagePRESS C850/C750/C650. The launch was themed ‘#UnleashPrint - Built for Business, Bring It On’ as it is Canon Malaysia’s intent to help customers realise their potential, take on new challenges and open up new opportunities.

“Print service providers (PSPs) often find that the inflexible nature of traditional presses do not easily accommodate the demands of document customisation. And as print jobs become more complex, PSPs need to ensure that their production environments are flexible, efficient and productive enough to take advantage of these changes in demands,” he said.
Mah elaborated that the complexity is the main reason behind a growing trend towards PSPs moving page volumes from their analogue devices and onto faster, more productive digital devices, and that Canon’s digital print technology is able to help PSPs deliver professional quality documents with ease and control. “Our cost-efficient, user-friendly print-on-demand system further provides full end-to-end printing solutions to respond quickly and offer customers a wider range of services.”
What is hardware without a powerful software to support and streamline workflows for better productivity? Canon Malaysia also introduced its Canon PRISMAprepare software controller that plays a pivotal role in marrying all job functionalities together, to produce high quality output in the most cost efficient and productive manner.
“Regardless if you are printing colors or monochrome one at a time or simultaneously, our advanced PRISMAprepare software makes it easy to prepare complex jobs, automate the prepress process and accelerate job turnaround. This would in turn prevent wasted time, effort, or hard-copy layout proofs before they’re perfect,” explained Mah.
