Art@HOMEDEC was launched recently as a special feature of Part 2 of the popular Home Design and Interior Exhibition (HOMEDEC), at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
This four-day event is a continuation of previous week’s successful HOMEDEC (Part 1) on Design & Renovate.
Art@HOMEDEC provides a platform for young and emerging artists aged 35 and below to showcase their work to a wider Malaysian audience.
Curated by Galeri Chandan, over 100 pieces of artworks and sculptures by young and emerging Malaysian artists are on display for the public to appreciate and to purchase to decorate their homes.
The art pieces are divided into three categories: New Artists (introducing recently graduated artists with high potential), Young Artists (artists who have shown their potential and have been actively involved in various exhibitions for the past five years); and Emerging Artists (artists who have made breakthroughs in the art scene with active participation in local and international art exhibitions).
“We are very happy to team up with HOMEDEC to create this platform for young and emerging artists to meet with potential fans and buyers among the Malaysian public. We hope to heighten awareness of career possibilities in the visual arts among young Malaysians and to raise greater interest in art among Malaysians in general,” said Harni Jonet, Gallery Manager from Galeri Chandan.
“We see the introduction of Art@HOMEDEC as a meeting point for artists and homeowners who appreciate art. We believe that giving the space for these young artists to showcase their work will galvanise the visual arts fraternity and encourage more Malaysians to invest in artworks to beautify their living spaces,” said Liliane Lee, Senior Manager of C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd, who is also the Project Manager of HOMEDEC.
Both Part 1 and Part 2 expect to see more than 120,000 visitors visit 1,600 booths featuring the latest in home related products, interior design ideas and solutions from over 500 exhibitors. Part 2 — which runs till 29 Oct — focuses on products and services related to furnishing, refinery, decorating ideas and interior styles under the theme of ‘Furnish & Decorate’.
