MFMA Development Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Mitsui Fudosan Co, Ltd (Mitsui Fudosan) and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (Malaysia Airports), has successfully launched Phase 2 of its planned expansion for Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang after the official opening in 2015. The launch of the expansion phase was officiated by the Minister of Transport, Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai.
“The launch of the expansion phase for Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang marks an important milestone for us as it demonstrates the progress we are making towards becoming the largest factory outlet mall in Southeast Asia,” said Mr Akihiko Funaoka, Executive Managing Officer of Mitsui Fudosan Co Ltd.
“Phase 3, which is targeted to be completed by 2021 targets to house 250 stores on a total gross floor area of 73,000sqm, making Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang the largest in Southeast Asia,” added Funaoka.
The gross floor area of Phase 2 that measures 16,530sqm and can accommodate 70 new stores over 9,800sqm of commercial space, expanding the popular retail destination to a total gross floor area of 56,530sqm. Phase 2 also adds 420 parking lots to provide a total of 2,520 parking lots for visitors.
The architectural concept for the new expansion phase also introduces three new concepts namely the River Walk and Sky Walk, which gives the image of wilderness paradise entering the inland from the Sea Resort; the Forest Walk corridor reflects a forest trail connecting the river and the sky, merging the 3 concepts into a complementary sensorial experience.
Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang held a soft opening of its expanded phase on December 15, 2017 to offer shoppers a greater variety of offerings in conjunction with its Year End Sale. The new phase introduces a good tenant mix with diversification into entertainment and amusement as well as the inclusion of specialty-based tenants. Shoppers can look forward to several FIRST in Malaysia outlet stores during the soft opening such as The Beauty Laboratory by Shiseido.
Amongst the other new brands that shoppers can look forward to when visiting Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang include Chaps, Wacoal, Body Glove, Vogue Bambini, The North Face, Salomon, Lotto, Canterbury, Elle, Fitflop, Lacoste, rieker, Kipling, G-SHOCK, Royal Selangor, The Body Shop, Watsons, Padini Outlet Store, Sacoor One, HUMMER, Tefal, Ed Hardy, Parkson Branding Outlet, American Tourister and more.
Not forgetting the younger patrons of Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang, a fun and safe Indoor Entertainment Centre – Molly Fantasy, has opened its doors to welcome them and keep them occupied while their parents enjoy a shopping spree.
“About 70 new stores are open for Phase 2, broadening selection for existing brands and product categories including luxury, international, Japanese, sports, local fashion and cosmetics. Furthermore, common lifestyle stores with elements of amusement and personal care have joined Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang to enhance convenience and comfort for visitors,” said Funaoka.

As Chinese New Year is just around the corner, Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang has jazzed up the mall with pink and red traditional Chinese themed decorations. The Lion Dance will also be performing on weekends at the Sunshine Square, Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang starting February 10th until the 25th to welcome the New Year. Apart from that, shoppers are also offered great deals of up to 90 per cent discount at some stores from January 13th until February 25th. Limited edition red packets are up for grabs for those who purchase a minimum of RM100 in a single receipt.

The project was granted Entry Point Project (EPP) status under the Economic Transformation Programme, National Key Economic Area (NKEA) for Tourism (EPP3 – Establishing Premium Outlets in Malaysia).
