Vertice Bhd, formerly known as Voir Holdings Bhd announced the appointment of two new directors and the resignation of its Chairman.
Former Chief Justice Rt. Hon. Tun Arifin Bin Zakaria was appointed as the new Non-Executive Independent Chairman and Datuk Dr. Azirul Salihin B. Anuar as an Independent Director of the Group.
Former Chairman Dato’ Zarul Ahmad Bin Mohd Zulkifli had requested to resign from his position as the Non-Executive Independent Chairman to pursue other business interests.
Arifin has a wealth of experience with the Malaysian judicial system with his long and highly distinguished career in the legal sector, most recently holding the post of Chief Justice of Malaysia from 2011 to April 2017, when he retired from office. He is also familiar with the corporate scene, being the Chairman of Microlink Solutions Berhad, a company listed on Bursa Malaysia.
He is also the advisor to Asia Freight Rail Sdn Bhd (“AFR”), a company set up in 2015 which is in the final stages of obtaining the rail operator licence from Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat (“SPAD”) to be the second national rail operator in line with the Multiple Rail Operator (“MRO”) policy using the existing railway infrastructure owned by Railway Assets Corporation (“RAC”).
AFR’s business model is to become an integrated door to door cargo operator and plans to develop inland ports, freight villages, inland container depots and cargo terminals. AFR and Vertice currently have common directors and shareholders.
Arifin is currently actively involved in discussions with PT Industry Kereta Api (Persero) (“PT Inka”), to negotiate joint venture (“JV”) opportunities with AFR for railway cargo operations. PT Inka is the first fully integrated rolling stock and automotive manufacturer in Southeast Asia and the largest in Indonesia. PT Inka manufactures a variety of high quality products and delivers globally to countries such as Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and Bangladesh.
