Cuckoo Malaysia, a South Korea home appliance brands division, expects its good momentum to continue on in 2018.
Last year, the company enjoyed a spectacular year since its inception in 2014 as sales exceeded its target by 106% with a total accumulated revenue of RM200 million.
By the end of last year, Cuckoo Malaysia chief executive officer KC Hoe revealed that its accumulated customer base has also increased to 254,348 people.
Speaking at the Cuckoo 40th Anniversary Celebration Dinner held in Seoul, South Korea last night, Hoe announced that in January and February this year alone, the company has increased that number to an additional 50,000 new customers.
“Such extraordinary results can only attainable thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our highly dedicated and supportive team, who share my belief in our vision,” he added.
Since 2016, Cuckoo Malaysia has also become Cuckoo’s Southeast Asia headquarters, expanding its market reach into Singapore, Brunei and beginning this month into Indonesia.
According to Hoe, in only one year, Cuckoo has opened nine brand stores in Brunei, attracting over 3,000 households and generating a revenue of B$2 million. Meanwhile in Singapore, Hoe claimed that the launch of its True Rental Plan enabled Singaporean consumers to rent Cuckoo appliances much easier.
Meanwhile, at the same event, Cuckoo Korea CEO Brian Koo said that besides Indonesia, the company aims to expand Cuckoo brand into India and Vietnam this year.
“We estimate that our export revenue to reach US$150 million in 2018. For the next five years, we estimate that our annual export revenue to increase to US$1 billion,” he added.
Held at the Seoul Dragon City, Cuckoo 40th anniversary celebration was attended by over 00 Cuckoo employees, dealers and media personnel from Korea, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and Indonesia.
At the event, Cuckoo also announced that South Korean superstar actor and singer Lee Seung Gi (pix) has been appointed as Cuckoo’s new global ambassador for all its products.
Lee, most notable for his leading role in the hit Korean TV series a Korean Odyssey and his appearances in many variety shows, will appear in Cuckoo’s advertising campaigns in Korea, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and Indonesia. Lee was also the face of Cuckoo between 2013 and 2014.
Cuckoo believes that Lee’s positive image is in line with its corporate brand mission, which is to promote a healthy way of living.
