Iskandar Malaysia was chosen for Oerlikon Balzers, a well-known supplier of Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) coatings, newest one-stop centre.
The strategic location between two technically-advanced countries, the strong infrastructure and the expectations for it to meet customer needs across the regions were the reason why Iskandar Malaysia was chosen for the centre said Balzer Industrial Solutions business unit head, Marc Desrayaud.
“Our operations in Kulai are expected to meet the high demand from the electronics industry, where coating equipment are needed to manufacture products such as computer hard disc drives,” he told members of the media after the centre’s launch.
Also present at the launch were Iskandar regional development authority chief executive officer Datuk Ismail Ibrahim and Malaysian investment development authority Johor director Rozano Yahaya.
Ismail commended Oerlikon Balzers on its choice of Iskandar Malaysia for its centre.
“This proves that Johor has become the choice of investors due to the state’s strong infrastructure including airports, ports and good communication network,” he added.
Desrayaud commented that a factory and customer service centre would be included at the one-stop centre in i-Park, Bandar Indahpura.
“The investment for this centre is about five million Swiss francs (1 Swiss franc = RM4.11) and we go for a large investment because we believe in the potential of this region,” he said.
Orelikon Balzers currently operates 108 coating centres in 35 countries.
