ZeptoExpress recently expanded its high-technology delivery solutions to Sabah, East Malaysia, through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with EPost during GREAT 2018.
Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industrial Development, Datuk Haji Hashim Paijian; PUMM National Vice President, Sabah State Chairman and GA Group CEO Dato’ George Lim; NCT Group CEO Thomas Ng; and MaGIC CEO Ashran Dato’ Ghazi witnessed the MOU exchange between EPost Director and NCT Group Business Development Director Tobin Ng, ZeptoExpress CEO and Co-Founder Izzairi Yamin as well as ZeptoExpress COO and Co-Founder Syairil Reza.
Due to the rapid growth of eCommerce in Malaysia, demand for last mile delivery solutions continues to increase. Through this smart collaboration, ZeptoExpress will lend its technology expertise and capabilities to EPost and share its experience in navigating through the startup ecosystem.
In addition to which EPost will establish and run ZeptoExpress’ operations in East Malaysia while with the help of ZeptoExpress, NCT Group – EPost’s parent company – will offer last mile delivery services in West Malaysia. NCT Group is the largest and most established logistics specialist in Sabah offering delivery services nationwide and worldwide.
ZeptoExpress is a MaGIC alumni, having participated in the e@Stanford program in 2017. A result of MaGIC’s partnership with Stanford University, e@Stanford was designed for experienced entrepreneurs who wanted to grow their business and take it into the next level. The program provided participants, like Zepto Express, with two weeks of interactive learning and networking with professionals involved in the startups scene and innovative businesses.
Ashran Dato Ghazi, CEO of MaGIC, said: “We are really proud to see in action how far ZeptoExpress has grown since joining MaGIC’s e@Stanford program last year. I am glad to say that ZeptoExpress took the learnings they received during the program and applied it into their business. This partnership with EPost to expand ZeptoExpress’ operations and bring last mile delivery services to East Malaysia is a clear testament of that.”
“Venturing into entrepreneurship was not too long ago seen to be a risky move. Even so, success stories like ZeptoExpress today continue to inspire and guide other aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them to give others the confidence to explore how their idea might change or improve an issue that consumers or businesses face today. It is also amazing to see that the solutions being developed are expanding beyond KL and its immediate surrounding areas, bringing these services to those in Malaysia’s regions as well,” Ashran added.
ZeptoExpress is a good example of how MaGIC can help Malaysian entrepreneurs access quality education and training to develop the knowledge, skills, and capabilities critical in building or expanding a successful business. Through its capacity building programs, MaGIC works to enable the growth of entrepreneurs who are able to build future-ready solutions similar to ZeptoExpress’ high-technology delivery solutions.
This strategic partnership between ZeptoExpress and EPost is a good example of a corporate and startup collaboration in action. A partnership between corporate and startup could help in laying a strong foundation for the entrepreneurship ecosystem and industries that will drive growth in the future. With a collaborative environment, startups will also be able to connect their ideas to capital and market more efficiently, for example ZeptoExpress’ move to expand and bring their high-technology delivery solutions to Sabah through a partnership with EPost.
“This partnership between ZeptoExpress and EPost marks a significant milestone not only for them, but also for MaGIC’s alumni. We are really proud to see the fruit of our hard work in helping startups grow and expand their business through our programs. We hope more startups and corporate will collaborate in the future to drive innovation and create new opportunities,” Ashran added.
