The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) celebrated its 60th Anniversary on July 13, 2018 at the MICPA 60th Annual Dinner held at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur hotel.
Over 400 guests attended the festive night including the President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Ms Rachel Grimes, who flew in from Sydney, Australia, to officiate the event with an opening speech.
Also present were prominent accountants in Malaysia who are also members of MICPA – Tan Sri Amirsham A. Aziz, Chairman of Bursa Malaysia Bhd and MIDA; Tan Sri Azman Hashim, Chairman of AmBank Group; Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih, Chairman of CIMB Bank Bhd and Past President of MICPA; YM Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Datuk Arshad Raja Tun Uda, Chairman of Maxis Bhd and Ekuinas Bhd, and Past President of MICPA; and Dato’ Gumuri Hussain, Chairman of the Audit Oversight Board and past Council Member of MICPA, amongst others.
In celebration of its 60th anniversary, the Institute launched a video featuring its members emphasizing how the MICPA qualification had impacted their lives and respective careers and congratulating the Institute on its 60th anniversary.
MICPA is the only home-grown professional accounting body. Incorporated on July 26, 1958, the Institute has been instrumental in enhancing the capital markets, the advancement of accounting education, talent development and providing leadership in the business community.
