In conjunction with World Kindness Day, Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. teamed up with Kechara Soup Kitchen Society and Joe’s Barber Shop to provide complimentary haircuts at Kechara Soup Kitchen Society in Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur.
The ‘Fresh Cuts, Fresh Starts’ initiative was aimed at giving less fortunate members of the community a new look with haircuts from professional hairstylists to brighten their day and support them in their efforts to better their lives.
More than 20 individuals who stopped by Kechara Soup Kitchen during lunch time happily got into the barber’s chair for their new look, while they were getting their haircut, they shared stories of their family and life journey.
There is nothing like a haircut to give you a whole new look and a boost of self- confidence, that is exactly what Muhammad Fuad, 43, felt after his hair cut.
“I used to work as a sub-contractor at renovation sites but with the current economy, holding a job has been quite a challenge. I am thankful for this haircut which I hope will brighten my chance in finding a new job soon,” Fuad said.
For the 53-year-old Kuala-Lumpur native, Mohanda, life took a turn when he was diagnosed with chronic health problems that left him to seek refuge on the streets.
“It has been difficult, but I am slowly overcoming my health issues and getting back on my feet, this haircut has got me feeling and looking good, just in time for Deepavali” said Mahonda with a smile on his face.
The initiative left the individuals with big smiles and happiness sparkling in their eyes as they admired their new haircuts.
Canon believes that a fresh cut can spark a fresh start.
