Leaders are created from everyday ordinary people. As we celebrate this year’s Hari Kebangsaan and Malaysia Day, it is timely to remember those who have inspired us on our journey to success. In keeping with this, The Maybank MYStories campaign continues its journey to encourage acts of goodwill, to emulate the true Malaysian spirit.

“Remembering the main objective of our MYStories campaign of providing a platform for our unsung heroes, we would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have inspired us to be the person we are today. Our leaders, parents, teachers, colleagues and those who have touched our lives.
“Cikgu Kula, who is featured in our MYStories video, is one fine example – a teacher who worked tirelessly for 38 years and wants nothing but success for his students in education, career and life. Some deeds cannot be repaid and the best that we can do is to pay forward that act of kindness to inspire the next generation to build a better nation,” he continued.
During the Hari Kebangsaan and Malaysia Day period, Maybank is also enabling members of the public to do their part in contributing to our future generations through MaybankHeart (www.maybankheart.com). Proceeds raised under the SEMAI campaign will go to two (2) MaybankHeart registered NGOs, namely Teach for Malaysia (an independent NGO that recruits outstanding graduates and young professionals to be full-time teachers in high-need schools) and HOPE Worldwide Malaysia (an international NGO that helps the urban poor families and marginalized community through community programmes).
As we build a better future, we also remember the past. Malaysians can watch Ola Bola The Musical Merdeka Tour, a show that pays tribute to former athletes who brought glory to our nation, completely free of charge. Malaysians can collect their free passes at each show venue from 12 noon– 6pm and it is based on a first come first serve basis where one individual can redeem up to four (4) passes each.
Maybank pays tribute to these unsung heroes who tirelessly trained and competed for our national pride, through an on-ground donation drive for Yayasan Atlet Kebangsaan (YAKEB), an NGO dedicated to managing the welfare of former Malaysian athletes, which will accompany the shows from 31 August to 21 September 2019. Let the celebration of our nation’s independence be a time for us to repay the heroes who have paved the way for our country and a time to provide opportunities for the future generations to come.
