Meet Christy Ng, the founder and CEO of ChristyNg.com, an Omni channel shoe brand that specialises in women’s fashion footwear.
Well known for its custom-made shoes, today ChristyNg.com ships products to over 30 countries worldwide. What made their shoes unique and much sought after are that their customers are able to customise their shoes from scratch, from the colour and shape of the shoe to the height of the heels.
“I have customers purchasing from countries I have never been to. We are definitely delighted that our products are well received all over the world,” she explains.
What started as a business from her very own living room back in 2012, Christy who has no background in design, creates and sells shoes that she thought were pretty in her own eyes.
Fast forward to today; Christy now manages a workforce of nearly 100 employees, who help her run both retail stores and an e-commerce platform. Christy’s aura of command and presence signifies her character of a determined and bold fashion entrepreneur.
That said, manoeuvring her business during the Covid-19 pandemic, however was the lowest point of her life as a fashion techpreneur.
“During the lockdown, initially I thought we were done for as our factory had to close its operation and retail stores shut. There were a lot of uncertainties and we weren’t able to mobilise the team,” she recalls.
She continues, “There’re a lot of doubt going on with a lot of overheads to support and rental payments to manage in a practically no business environment.”
“I was ready to sell my house and my car just to make sure that I could pay my employees’ salaries. Suffice to say that there were a lot of anxiety throughout the MCO period and I thought we were going bankrupt.”
However, things started to go uphill for her e-commerce platform as virtually everybody turned to the Internet to shop during the MCO period. Before long, her e-commerce sales quadrupled during MCO so much so it was able to compensate for the loss of sales from the physical stores.
“E-commerce has indeed grown to another level during MCO for Malaysians and even for our customers abroad. We are blessed to have Malaysians who buy our brand even during pandemic and the online sales grew like crazy since April,” says Christy.
“In fact, thanks to the increased online sales volume, we have managed to upscale our operations, renovated our warehouse, upgrade our machinery and automate many of our processes in order to cater to the growing demand our e-commerce platform,” she adds.
Christy then maintained her focus to serve her local and global customers by ensuring that her products continue to be relevant, excites her customers and adds value to the end users.”
According to Christy, being online 24x7 and seven days a week calls for well-established and trusted technology for support.
“Using the right technology tool to assist in the daily operation is so important. Without it I would not be able to sell my shoes and bags online effectively and efficiently,” she affirms.

“The pandemic has changed so many things for me. It put us entrepreneurs in a very unpredictable situation. Therefore, you must be ready to adapt, think on your feet and be ready to solve problems by yourself.
