PETALING JAYA, 23 AUGUST 2021 – Celcom Axiata Berhad (Celcom) and Huawei Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Huawei), a leading global Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions provider, have signed a Digital Leadership Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a set of talent development programmes, aimed at building ICT talents to future-proof a digital future for Malaysia.
Idham Nawawi, Chief Executive Officer of Celcom Axiata Berhad and Michael Yuan, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Technologies Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. inked the MoU during the recent virtual Celcom Huawei Strategy Summit. The signing ceremony was also witnessed virtually by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Chairman, Dr. Howard Liang, Huawei regional leaders from the Asia Pacific region and Celcom’s senior management.
The Digital Leadership programme aims to nurture aspiring ICT professionals, equipping them with skills related to latest technological developments such as Big Data, Cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G technology and pervasive technologies that will further empower Celcom to be at the forefront of technology innovation.
This collaboration between Celcom and Huawei will see the sharing of best practices and knowledge-sharing between both parties to enhance technical expertise and skillset development. Celcom and Huawei will collaborate and build digital transformation leadership talents and help secure a stronger positioning of Celcom’s business leadership within the industry.
Idham Nawawi, Chief Executive Officer of Celcom Axiata Berhad said in Celcom’s continuous pursuit towards becoming an enabler of a sustainable digital ecosystem, it is critical for Celcom to collaborate with technology leaders that share similar objectives.

Michael Yuan, CEO of Huawei Malaysia, said that as a global technology leader with extensive knowledge and expertise in advanced technologies such as 5G and Cloud computing, Huawei is honoured to join hands with Celcom in this collaboration to upskill and future-proof employees for the digital economy.
“Huawei will leverage its global technology experience as well as its strong and continuous investments in research and development to continue tech sharing and cross exposure with Celcom. A healthy digital ecosystem will require advanced ICT talent and collaborations such as these will contribute towards that.”
