Kuala Lumpur, 13th September 2021 - To streamline operations and processes across 100 cities in 10 different countries, MrSpeedy, along with its sister brands under parent company Dostavista Group, has announced a new identity, Borzo, after undergoing a global rebranding. As part of their growth strategy, Dostavista Group has also raised USD$35 million (RM 145,390,000) in a Series C funding round led by Mubadala Investment Company, VNV Global, RDIF, and Flashpoint Venture Capital. With the funds raised, the company plans to strengthen its position on the international market as well as in its most profitable region - South-East Asia (SEA).
Placing emphasis on better supporting its portfolio of over 2 million customers, the rebranding will introduce improved features, greater opportunities, and a revamp of existing internal processes, ensuring more seamless deliveries moving forward.
With the surge in on-demand deliveries, Borzo intends to empower local merchants by providing reliable and convenient delivery services. Accessible via its mobile application, website, or API, Borzo enables same-day intracity delivery, at competitive prices. Behind the scenes, the company applies its highly advanced algorithms to enable affordable, fast, and precise delivery. The algorithms optimize numerous parallel deliveries, taking into account the geographical routes, package contents, couriers and many others to ensure the feasibility of the same-day delivery. Therefore, no matter where customers are across Borzo’s 10 markets, they can rest assured knowing that their purchases will be delivered safely to their doorstep in the shortest time possible.
“We, at Borzo, have always believed that on-demand delivery will become a new normal as it is beneficial for all parties involved and we’re glad it’s happening right now,” stated Mike Alexandrovski, founder of Borzo. “With the new funding round closed, we will continue to move toward our goal of becoming one of the top courier delivery companies in every market we operate in. To achieve this, we believe that it is important to ensure operational synchronicity and integrity of the company's brand perception. Hence, the rebrand to Borzo.”
Supporting Communities Through Employment Opportunities
Due to the unfortunate effects of the pandemic, unemployment rates were as high as 5.3% in May 2020 - its highest level in more than 3 decades. To combat this issue, Borzo is providing engaging employment opportunities for those affected by the pandemic to elevate the local gig economy. The company enables Malaysians to become couriers through a simple registration
process, allowing them to determine their own work hours according to a schedule that suits them. With this, Borzo was able to increase over 1000% in courier registration over the past year, from 10,000 couriers in February 2020 to a shy of 150,000 couriers by August 2021.
“The gig economy is now even more important than ever due to the pandemic and its negative effects on both families and individuals. Over the past year, we have seen an increasing number of Malaysians earning a living by taking up delivery jobs and engaging in freelancing projects. We want to give back to the economy and community by helping couriers earn an honest wage to support their families amid these harsh economic times.” added Mike Alexandrovski.
The Borzo Android and iPhone applications are available for download on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. To learn more about Borzo, please head on to https://borzodelivery.com/my.
