6 DECEMBER 2021, PETALING JAYA – Zadara, the recognised leader in edge cloud services, has expanded its Federated Edge programme - the world’s first public edge cloud to Malaysia. This initiative is designed to empower managed service providers (MSPs) to hyper-scale their business to a global level and tap into a global cloud market valued at USD 6.9 billion.
The Federated Edge programme introduces a new, fully managed distributed cloud architecture that already features over 400 cloud points globally. Functioning as a consortium of MSPs powered by Zadara’s Edge Cloud Services, Federated Edge allows industry players to leverage the infrastructure of other MSPs around the world on-demand to serve customers anywhere on the planet all with zero up-front CapEx investment.
“Through the Federated Edge, we are breaking down barriers and opening up a literal world of possibilities and opportunities for local MSPs.Now industry players of any size can scale quickly, boost their points of presence and deploy their services anywhere in the world without the need to invest in new data centres or physical facilities there. They simply pay for what they use, when they use it,” said LindSay Lim, Regional Manager for Zadara.
Through a shared revenue model, MSPs are not only able to bring their services anywhere to meet new and existing client requirements, but they can also unlock a new passive revenue stream by allocating their infrastructure to be utilised by other services providers from abroad.
Once signed on as a participant in the Federated Edge programme, Zadara will build and provide end-to-end cloud infrastructure for MSPs. From there, an MSP can simply deploy the Zadara stack at their co-location and integrate it with Zadara’s centralised cloud management tool. This tool allows MSPs to view and access cloud locations around the world, that have been shared by other MSPs.
“We see a future where there is a Federated Edge Cloud in every city in the entire world, hosted by a participating MSP. This will enable edge customers to deploy workloads at sub 5 milliseconds no matter where they are,” added LindSay.
Edge cloud technology allows data to be stored, accessed and processed close to where the data is generated and consumed. This is immensely beneficial to businesses as it addresses latency requirements and reduces bandwidth cost allowing for greater operational resilience. Having access to local networks in regions around the world also ensures greater data privacy, protection, and sovereignty.
Here in Malaysia’s Zadara is already working with a local leading infrastructure provider - KH Datagate and will look to expand its partnerships locally through the Federated Edge programme.
Commenting on its involvement through the Federated Edge programme, KK Khooi, Founder of KH Datagate said, “We know that global demand for edge cloud services is at an all-time high, driven by rapid digitalisation and spurred on by the pandemic. Our participation in the Federated Edge programme is in line with our long-term plans of expanding our services to other markets in the region. Through the programme, we can significantly reduce costs related to this expansion and in fact fast track these plans to act on immediately thanks to the zero CapEx and on-demand nature of Federated Edge.”
We believe that Malaysia’s IT landscape has evolved immensely in the last few years. This new environment calls for synergy and global collaboration to enable fast, secure and widespread cloud adoption. In line with our mission to lead the market through always-on infrastructure, we are proud to be partnering with Zadara to fast track our efforts in Malaysia.”
