CYBERJAYA, 28 December 2021 – The Cyberview Living Lab Accelerator (CLLA) 2021 Demo Day saw five bright homegrown start-ups pitch their innovative digital solutions to investors and venture capitalists (VC), in a virtual session held by Cyberview Sdn Bhd (Cyberview).
These start-ups leveraged technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and HealthTech among others in developing innovative products and solutions to meet consumer demands for more digital solutions and services, whilst contributing to the growth of Malaysia’s digital economy.
The participating start-ups are Klean, Supagene, HIVE, Guardians AI (BeacoHealth) and Dwebly. To elevate user experience, HIVE introduces Malaysia’s first car detailing ecosystem app that offers customers convenience and rewards. On the other hand, Dwebly offers an all-in-one business platform to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses online from the ground up.
Klean develops an AI driven recycling platform that promotes recycling through incentivisation while SupaGene offers a DNA test kit that helps users learn and achieve their wellness objectives. Guardians AI brings smart healthcare gadgets that can enhance the safety and living quality of the elderly in care centres.
Najib Ibrahim, Managing Director of Cyberview said, “As Cyberjaya’s Tech Hub Developer, we are committed in helping local innovators build and commercialise their businesses while actively latching on the tech ecosystem in Cyberjaya. This cohort was chosen primarily for their ability to tap into opportunities that are beyond conventional spaces, hence addressing gaps in the marketplace. We are also looking into ensuring that the start-ups are provided with the means to scale quickly in which access to funding is vital. To that end, earlier this month, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Malaysia Debt Ventures Berhad to open up access to funding for businesses to accelerate within the Cyberjaya tech ecosystem. This is part of our effort in constantly perfecting Cyberjaya’s offerings, which we believe must rise in tandem with the increasing demands of the tech industries ".
Immediately following the Demo Day, this cohort has collectively garnered potential investment value of more than RM14 million. Najib further expressed his confidence that this cohort will find commercial success looking at the encouraging outcome of the Demo Day. CRADLE, Penjana Capital, Malaysia Business Angel Network (MBAN), Nexea, Vynn Capital, The Hive Southeast Asia and RHL Ventures were among the venture capitals who attended the virtual session.
“Our latest cohort’s focus on Smart Healthcare, Smart Mobility, and AI stems from the tremendous potential that these areas and technologies bring to Malaysia’s digital economy. It is our hope that they can capture the immense value from these technologies, as they move into commercialisation,” Najib added.
The CLLA programme provides a launchpad for start-ups and innovators to accelerate their business development and growth in Cyberjaya. The entire city of Cyberjaya serves as a sandbox for these companies to conduct proof-of-concept testing of their products and solutions. The start-ups will also have opportunities to network and connect with relevant industry experts during the five-month process mentorship, strategy formulation, and consultancy, guided by Cyberview. While they are based at a smart city collaborative space provided by Cyberview known as CoInnov8, the start-ups can enjoy value added services worth over RM100,000 on top of it.
Since its inception in 2013, Cyberview has nurtured 85 start-ups to advance their innovations through the CLLA Programme, including those that had pitched in this Demo Day. Apart from the RM158 million in investments, the programme has also managed to help start-ups generate more than RM276 million in total revenue with more than 709 jobs created to date. Among successful recent graduates are MHub, MedKad, Roomah, Pandai, Synapse Innovation, LinkUp Smart Solutions and Move Robotic.
