KUALA LUMPUR, 14 August 2022 – inDriver has added a new vehicle type to its ride-hailing services as demands for more convenient and cost-effective mobility solutions continue to grow. The ride-hailing app has introduced a new six-seater car option that will allow a group of commuters such as family, friends and colleagues to travel without having to book multiple vehicles for their excursions.

Roman Ermoshin, Director of Ride-hailing for Asia Pacific at inDriver said: “We see a steady increase in demand for high-capacity vehicles among our users as people fully resume their daily and social activities. With the expansion of our ride-hailing services, we hope to provide a convenient and comfortable solution with the same affordability that inDriver is known for, while also creating more opportunity and flexibility for our drivers to earn income.”
The six-seater vehicle option is currently available in the Klang Valley, Penang and Johor Bahru, but inDriver is planning to introduce it to more cities in Malaysia. The fare for the new transport mode will be slightly higher than the regular four-seater cars but it provides a cost-effective way to travel for large groups of people as it eliminates the need to make multiple bookings. In addition, it will also increase income opportunities for drivers as they can earn more per trip.
Based on inDriver’s data, demand for the six-seater vehicle is very popular among families, groups of friends or work colleagues; who opt for the larger vehicle for family outings or social gatherings. The service is most demanded during the morning to afternoon period as well as early evening, which is consistent with the period of time when group or social activities are mostly active.
Meanwhile, the six-seater vehicle is also the preferred option for those who are travelling to the airport as it provides ample space for large luggage and a more comfortable ride.
inDriver has introduced several updates to its app recently for an improved user experience. One of them is a chat function that enables easy communication between drivers and passengers while maintaining users’ privacy.
In addition, a new feature called “On the way” was introduced as a means to improve driver's income opportunity. With this feature, drivers can tap the "On the way" button, enter their destination address, and receive ride requests as they move towards their destination. This will benefit drivers in terms of time and cost savings.
